Cincinnati Eagles 13 Atlas,TX 12 0T

Image
Using the rosters from the program Atlas had several players sharing the same number, so the name might be incorrect, as I had a 50-50 chance, so I used both names when needed. The night game of the 2025 Home School Classic was the best of the bunch. The matchup pitted the Cincinnati Eagles against the Atlas Rattlers out of Texas. During the game the fans of both schools were very vocal, making for a very entertaining night. At the 4:31 mark of the quarter, #1 Joziah Riley/Christopher Stewart was thrown down for a loss of 6 yards by the Eagles' #60. Gerret Hatfield (Thanks, Coach Goodpaster.) The first quarter flew by as both teams kept the clock moving. With just 0:38 left on the clock facing a 4th and one, Atlas used a 7-yard run from #1 to give the Rattlers a first and goal on the Eagles' 1-yard line. Riley/Stewart would make this a 6-0 game seventeen seconds later. A two-point conversion would fall to the turf, keeping the score 6-0. The Eagles would fly high with 10:44 r...

Christ Prep Patriots (MO/KS) 38 Columbus Crusaders 13

Image
Using the rosters from the program* Game three on Saturday of the 2025 Home School Classic featured Christ Prep out of Texas against the Columbus Crusaders out of Columbus, Ohio. Prep had nearly 70 players dressed, while the Crusaders were in the mid-twenties. In the first two games of the day, the team with the smaller roster won. Christ Prep got things started quickly when Justice Criniere found Jackson McGregor for a 19-yard gain. The Crusaders' defense was able to overcome the big pass call when Marcus Stoner pounced on a Prep fumble, like an alley cat on a mouse, with 10:28 showing on the clock. The Crusaders would face a 4th and two; Coach Kris Garner would elect to go for it. The call gave the ball to the Crusaders' electrifying running back Ezekiel Bowie, and the Prep defense knew it, making the stop easy for Daniel Savebnok and Criniere, with 8:21 showing on the clock. Defense continues to lead the way, and at the 7:10 mark of the quarter, Criniere was dropped for a ...

New London 28 Millersport 14

Image
Last night I made another trip to Millersport to watch the Lakers battle the New London Wildcats. For me, it was the first time seeing the Wildcats play. The Lakers' home side was full of fans, and there were many sitting and standing to the right of the home-side bleachers. The Wildcats, who had a long drive brought close to 100 fans. The Lakers got a 13-yard run from Jason Wells, who broke a tackle and then reversed field to pick up the yards. Brock Wright coughed the ball up, and making the recovery for the Wildcats, with 9:32 left in the opening quarter, was Oliver Harrison. Jackson Rawlins would get to the Wildcats quarterback Jackson Mencl for a loss of seven just 27 seconds later. The first quarter was moving along, and with 5:09 left on the clock, Riley Zabor got to Lakers quarterback Nicholas Yingling for a loss of a yard on one of the hardest hits of the game. Yingling would throw a wounded duck up for grabs, and making the pick for the Wildcats was Zabor. The Lakers us...

Westland Cougars 49 Centennial Stars 00

Image
ShaMar Chilton (Using a combination of rosters from HUDL and rosters from the press box) Game number 16, 2025, took me back to Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio, for the Thursday Night matchup featuring the Centennial Stars and the home team, the Westland Cougars. The Stars were a little beat up heading into this one and had a major lineup change with a guard moving to center. For the Cougars, their coach said he would know how good they were after week two. The Cougars' offense needed just three plays to light the scoreboard up, with Jayrece Dixon finding Emoni Smith, who turned a short catch into a 74-yard touchdown. After Donavan Moore drilled the PAT, we had a 7-0 game, with 10:25 showing on the first quarter clock. The Stars caught a big early break when Gabe Moore touched the punt, and pouncing on it for the Stars was Keleb Jenkins at the 8:47 mark of the opening quarter. The Cougars' defense quickly shut down the Stars' offense. Once the Cougars got the ball back...

2025 Interview with Liam Deering, Johnstown-Monroe

Image
Liam Deering Johnstown-Monroe/Johnstown TE/DE 2027 6’3, 215 Jersey Number: 33 HUDL LINK: https://www.hudl.com/profile/19154776/Liam-Deering Other sports played: Basketball Please post a small recap of last season with something like a big game you had, something about a certain game, something from a bus ride to or from the game, or something that sticks out from a practice. With limited opportunities last year due to 2 very strong classes ahead of me, I didn’t get a lot of opportunities to impact the game, but one moment that stuck out to me during the season is when our DT got hurt, and I was asked to step into a position in the middle of the game that was not mine. I tried hard and ended up having 2 sacks with 3 tackles for loss, and I have 7 total tackles. What has stuck out the most during practices so far? How insanely hard the team has been working and pushing each other to be great this year. Everyone just wants it really bad. Which teammate has surprised you the most so ...

2025 Interview with George Renault, Sonora High (California)

Image
George Renault Sonora High (California) Jersey #:37 5'7" 155lbs CB/WR Sports played I’ve played football, wrestling, and track.  Football for 10 years and wrestling for 9.  2024 Moments Last season was amazing how we had a great record on JV being 9-2 and then being pulled up to help our team dominate other teams on varsity for playoffs and eventually the state championship for the first time in our county. In watching your Hudl package, it is very easy to see that you can be very physical, even being a smaller player. Can you share with the readers what all goes into being a physical-type player, even with you being listed at 5-8, 155? When you’re a smaller guy, you’ve got to be more aggressive and hungry to hit and beat these bigger guys.  I just have to work harder than them.  In watching your Hudl package, you back pedal easily, and when you make a move to the receiver, you wrap up when making the tackle. How much of this comes from natural ability along w...

St. Pius X 15, Dunwoody 12 (Georgia)

Image
The final day of the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic began with a battle between St. Pius X Golden Lions and the Dunwoody Wildcats. I will say before getting to the game, I sat at the top of the stands at the 50-yard line, a great season, with a great view. Many of the fans sitting in that area missed a solid game, as they were too busy running up and down the steps, playing on their phones instead of watching the action. The action was tight throughout the game, as both teams really seemed evenly matched. The game stayed scoreless until there were three seconds left in the opening quarter; that is when Christian Lee calmly hit a short 22-yard field goal, putting Dunwoody up, 3-0. The second quarter would see the Golden Lions take a 7-3 lead when Conley Goodlife brought down a 54-yard pass from Dexter Mosley with 1:46 left in the half. The Wildcats roared back to cut the lead to 7-6 with three seconds before halftime on another Lee field goal, this one from 29 yards out. The Gol...

Creekside 48 Rome 28 (Georgia)

Image
The nightcap game at Barron Stadium put the home team, the Rome Wolves, against the Creekside Seminoles. Rome was coming off of an 8-3 season, with Creekside finishing 10-3 in 2024. Overall Creekside stood 273-127, and Rome stood 276-112-1. This one started out like the Fourth of July, with Rome supplying all of the fireworks. Aiden McPherson, the Wolves' junior starting quarterback, would use his feet to score two early touchdowns. The first run went for 13 yards, and the 2nd went for 28 yards. Jason Reyes was true on both of the P.A.K. to make this a 14-0 game with 7:33 left in the opening quarter. McPherson would connect with Keaton Mull for an 11-yard score to make this 21-0 with 3:02 left on the clock. Creekside slowly shook off what looked like a TKO with a 2-yard touchdown run by Cayden Benson to make this a 21-6 game, with 11:26 left in the half. Gary Walker scored on a 7-yard run, with the two-point conversion coming from Benson, who used his feet to run in to make this ...

LaGrange 27 Cass 7 (Georgia)

Image
My first visit to Barron Stadium in Rome, Georgia, brought a matchup between Cass and LaGrange. Cass wrapped up their 2024 season with a 6-4 record. while LaGrange finished with a 10-4 record. Overall Cass entered with a school record of 245-475-5. LaGrange entered with an overall record of 81-394-40. The Grangers would get things started with a 55-yard run by Dylan Barber, who broke right, used some nice work by his offensive line, and used some natural God-given ability to make the run look easy. Just 18 seconds later Barber muffed the snap from center, and jumping on the ball for Cass was Eli Simmons, according to the PA announcer. From my seat it looked as if Malakai Keita got the ball. Cass would get a 37-yard run by Jerome Sanders at the 11:22 mark of the frame, with 15 yards tacked on due to a late hit. Cass would turn the ball over when the punter mishandled the ball and Mason Blandingburg pounced on it, with 4:13 left. Mason Calhoun threw a 38-yard pass to Jardon Stringe...

Hebron Christian 29 North Atlanta 22 (Georgia)

Image
Game three of the Corky Kell + Dave Hunter Classic took place at West Forsyth High School, pitting the Hebron Christian Lions against North Atlanta. Last season, the Lions finished 10-2, while the Warriors went 9-2. For the Lions, they were seeking their 94th victory in school history, and the Warriors were hoping to gain their 129th victory. The Lions would get the first big break of the game when Beau Bennett pounced on the ball after a bad snap to the Warriors punter, with 9:19 left in the opening quarter. Kingston Adams would register a sack on Lions quarterback Michael Kyles Jr. for a loss of seven yards at the 8:32 mark of the quarter. Later on the drive, the Lions faced a fourth and seventeen on the Warriors' twenty-nine-yard line. Deciding to go for it turned out not so good, as a pass fell incomplete. With 4:05 left, Benji Blackburn, who fielded the punt, was hit by Stroud Morris, causing a fumble that was recovered by Barrett Greene, giving the Lions the ball. Devo...

Kell 44 South Paulding 21 (Georgia)

Image
Game two at Kell High was owned by the home team as the Longhorns ran wild, beating South Paulding. Kell entered this one hoping to claim the school's 177th victory, while the Spartans hoped to earn victory 99. The Longhorns would get two quick touchdowns from Quinterrius Gipson to go up 14-0. His first touchdown came on a 14-yard run with Fernando Tavares. His 2nd touchdown pass of 17 yards from Kaleb Narcisse.  Kell took a 21-0 lead, with 11:53 left in the half, on a 12-yard pass from Narcisse to Brayden Rouse to make this a 21-0 game. The Spartans showed some life when Canyon Carter electrified the crowd with a 96-yard kickoff return for the score. Steven Dunlap was true on the point after kick, making this a 21-7 game, with 11:39 left on the clock. Kell would close out the half with a 21-yard touchdown catch by Rouse and an 11-yard catch by Nathan Agyemang to take a 34-7 lead. Gipson raced for a 63-yard touchdown with 9:48 left in the third to give the Long...

Prince Avenue Christian 40, Callaway 17 (Georgia)

Image
The 2025 Dave Hunter + Corky Kell Classic got started at Kell High School, with Prince Avenue Christian squaring off with the Callaway Cavaliers. Prince Avenue would go 10-4 last season, including their third state championship. They also have a new head coach in Jon Richt. The Cavs would have a nice season in 2024 as well by going 9-3. The Wolverines would be seeking their 185th win in school history, while the Cavs were seeking win number 234. Mother Nature was in a good mood to start this one, with weather almost perfect for football. As the night wore on, there would be two delays as heavy downpours, with thunder and lighting, showed up. In the first half, Calloway had a slim three point lead, at 17-14. DJ Mahone started the scoring off with a fine 26-yard run, after Jayden Bailey nailed his point after kick, Calloway led. 7-0 with 11:44 left in the opening half. Prince Avenge would get a 50-yard run from Andrew Beard, followed by the point after kick from Joey Black to ...
