2024 Moments
Last season was amazing how we had a great record on JV being 9-2 and then being pulled up to help our team dominate other teams on varsity for playoffs and eventually the state championship for the first time in our county.
In watching your Hudl package, it is very easy to see that you can be very physical, even being a smaller player. Can you share with the readers what all goes into being a physical-type player, even with you being listed at 5-8, 155?
When you’re a smaller guy, you’ve got to be more aggressive and hungry to hit and beat these bigger guys. I just have to work harder than them.
In watching your Hudl package, you back pedal easily, and when you make a move to the receiver, you wrap up when making the tackle. How much of this comes from natural ability along with watching game film and practice?
I have a lot of years of football under me now, and I every year it comes back even better with more knowledge of how to play better than the year before. Then the practices and game film help to show me who I gotta hit faster and harder.
How would you describe your style of play?
I am always all over the field ready to get the ball or get whoever has the ball.
What has been your biggest moment on the football field?
Definitely getting picks and sometimes pick sixes all throughout my high school career so far.
How did you get into being a holder?
I was a backup QB, and they put me in that spot and liked me there so I stayed.
What is the toughest part of being a cornerback?
Making sure that WR does not get the ball. Having most WRs taller, I have had to train harder to get over the receiver to the ball.
What is the most rewarding part of being a cornerback?
Learning how to react fast to your opponent and gaining better ball knowledge.
Wide receiver or cornerback: Which one do you feel you are better at? Explain
I feel like I am better at cornerback because I can react fast, speed up fast to stay with the WR, and I just enjoy being on defense and tackling people.
What are your goals for the season?
To get some good highlights videos.
What goals are you setting for your team?
Continuing to make each other better every day and work together to get another championship.
What makes you a good teammate?
I’m good at pushing others so that we can both learn and get better together.
What do you feel is your greatest strength as a football player?
I’m disciplined, and I have a mad man work ethic.
What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
Definitely some corn on the cob with burgers and mashed potatoes.
Outside of sports, what are you doing for fun?
I like to go camping to fish and ride dirt bikes.
Who are your favorite and least favorite college football teams?
I like any college that would put me in the best scenario for achieving my goals of playing football.
