Image
Marcos Diaz Jr. New Castle Jr. Sr. High School  Center, defensive tackle 2025 6’3, 335 Awards won or earned: First team all-conference DT, second team all-conference center, 4-year starter for Newcastle. What are you going to miss the most from playing high school football?  I’m going to miss playing with my brother. We have all been friends since we were like 6 years old, and walking out of the locker room for the game, seeing all the fans and my family,. What were your feelings as you walked off the field for the last time as a high school football player? Feeling, walking off the field, all just looking back at all the memories I had since second grade on this field, winning a championship in youth, too, my first varsity start, and all the hard work, the blood, sweat, and tears, we work our butts off the whole offseason. What was the high mark of the 2024 season? The high marks were definitely to get my name on the map, make the first team in my position, a...

Carsan Hehman Dixie Heights High School OL/DL 2025 6’3, 240 lbs Awards won or earned: Team Captain, NKY First Team All District D1 OL/DL What were your feelings as you walked off of the field for the last time as a member of the Dixie Heights football team?  Can I get 5 more minutes? What mark do you believe your class left on the football program? A sense of brotherhood, communication, and trust What was the biggest lesson you have learned in playing sports? Nothing is given; you have to earn it.  Now that the high school portion of your football career is over, what, if anything, would you have done differently?  I would have probably played in the grade school or middle school. I just started playing my freshman year.  Which game will you remember the most? Explain  Senior Night: nothing like playing your last game on your home field. Which win meant the most? The game against Scott High School clinched our spot in the playoffs. Which loss s...

Western (Latham) 68 Fairfield (Leesburg) 66 OT

Image
Using records from Maxpreps. The final game of the Chad Hodson Classic was worth the wait as the large crowd was treated to an overtime game, and we were treated to seeing three really good high school players battle, with two of them squaring off on what would be the play of the game. Western (Latham) came in with a 4-3 record while Fairfield (Leesburg) supported a 6-1 record. Western had senior Drew Haggy and junior Kam James leading the show, and for Fairfield, Logan McIntosh, a junior, and Super Sophomore Brody Smith co-starring. Fairfield also had a wildcard in the pack in Griffin Friend, another sophomore. This game was as good as a high school basketball game that I can remember seeing. Both teams were fast, with Western maybe a step faster. Both teams could pass, shoot, play defense, score inside and outside, along with nailing big free throws. The game was tight all game long, with both teams acting like Ali and Foreman, laying haymaker after haymaker but refusing to...

(Basketball) Hillsboro 70 Adena 20

Image
*Using records from Maxpreps* Heading into this game, talk in the stands was that the game was going to be ugly quick, and the Hillsboro Indians had two special players who both were basketball fast. When all was said and done, the talk was spot on. The Indians came in, according to MaxPreps, on a two-game winning streak, with a 4-3 record overall. Adena came in with a 1-11 record, with the win coming over Westfall. The Indians jumped out to a 27-9 lead and never looked back. After the half, the score was 48-13. Both Jack Howard (30 points) and Brayden Hunter (22 points) showed that the fans in the stands knew what they were talking about. Howard would hit five three-point baskets, while Hunter hit two three-pointers. In the 2nd half, the scoring was 22-7 in favor of the Indians. Joe Francis and Christian Heath led Adena with six each.  Follow me on X @HEARTLANDFAN15 On Facebook @ Burnworth David

(Basketball)Whiteoak 68 Portsmouth Clay 36

Image
White Oak (4-8) came out and dominated early, outscoring Clay (0-8) 20-5 after the opening quarter. Whiteoak was three steps quicker and played like they knew the game was over before it even started. I.M.O. Clay, though outmanned and outtalented, tried to stick to the game plan and never seemed to quit as they fell further and further behind. The second quarter would show this, as each team could score just six points each. A lot went into the low-scoring quarter, with poor shooting and turnovers leading the way. Again, it was not for the lack of effort, as each team was busting their butts on the court. The third quarter would see 27 points scored with Whiteoad outscoring Clay 15-12. Both teams came out of the locker rooms looking a lot better than they did in the opening half. Both teams were hitting the boards hard and seem to be a little more relaxed. The final frame would see 30 points scored, with Whiteoak getting 17 of those points. Both teams played a lot of players, ...

(Basketball) McClain 78 Blanchester 41

Image
McClain 78 Blanchester 41 McClain improves to (4-3) with their win over Blanchester, who falls to (1-7). The outcome was shown after one quarter when McClain leaped out to the 26-11 lead. Right from the start it was also apparent that McClain had the two best players on the court. Zane Adams (31 points), Owen Skyes (22 points). Admas would hit 7 three-pointers for the game, while Sykes did all of his damage inside the arc. Jordan Bell would add 11 points on the day, including one three-pointer. Blanchester would get 11 points from sophomore Braydon Behymer. Scoring six apiece were Junior Caleb Johnson and Senior Bryce Burress. For the game, Blanchester would hit five threes, with Behymer hitting three of those. One of the things that stood out in this game was Blanchester seeming to try and do everything the coaching staff was asking them to do, and though the game was never close, those young men never quit, and the coaching staff always seemed to stay positive and coach the ...

(Basketball) Lynchburg Clay 63 East Clinton 45

Image
*Using records from Hudl and Maxpreps* Clay (4-8) came out with a lot of pep in their step and led by 10 (22-12) after one. Right out of the shoot they seemed ready to play. East Clinton (1-9) would come out with a lot of effort but seemed to be a step or two behind Clay in all aspects of the game. In the second quarter, things were much tighter with Clay outscoring East 15-12. Neither team was able to do much as far as pulling away from each other, as both teams took turns making some big buckets and forcing enough turnovers to keep things interesting. The third quarter would see a total of 20 points scored, with each team putting in ten. The two teams both seem to be a lot more even in the quarter than the records would indicate, with each team, from my perspective, giving 100% effort. The final frame was pretty much even, with the winners getting five more points to post the 18-point win. I believe the final frame, though close, was played with each player knowing the game...

Image
Hayden Webster Fairview OT, DE, MLB 2026 6’1, 250 Awards won or earned All Area and All District honorable mention What was the highest point of the 2024 season? The highest point in the season was when we were 3-1; I felt on top of the world. What was the lowest point of the 2024 season? The lowest point in the season was probably when we dropped 3 in a row. It was a little disheartening, but we pushed through it. Who was the best player that you faced in a game during the 2024 season, along with the team he played for? Brock Coffman, that kid's just different. He and his whole team from Sayre are a different animal. What did you learn about yourself during the season that you can use to be a better player and teammate during the 2025 season? I learned that if I just trust my teammates and my coaches, then it all works out. If Coach Caudill tells us what play they’re about to run, it’s probably coming at us.  What makes you a good teammate? I would do anythi...

I would like to highlight our win over Southwestern, where I ran for 258 yards and 4 TDs. What was the lowest moment of your high school football career? I think losing in the playoffs in the first round 3 consecutive years would be the worst moment. Which win meant the most? The last win of the season, when we went 10-0 for the first time in school history, definitely meant the most. Which loss hurt the worst? Our loss against Exeter Township in the playoffs hurt the worst because we were the better team, and we came up short. What was the biggest lesson that you have learned playing sports? You can't control every part of the game, and all you can do is play your part to the best of your ability. Who was the best team you faced, along with the thing that mad...

(Basketball) Watkins used big fourth quarter to beat Central Crossing 40-35

Image
*Using the Watkins roster from Hudl and the Central Crossing roster was given to me by a coach from Grove City.* Tonight I made my first drive to Central Crossing High School in Grove City to watch the Central Crossing Comets host Watkins Memorial in a non-conference basketball game. Coming in, the Comets were (2-5), while the Warriors set was (3-4). In watching the two teams warm up, I felt this was going to be a close game. The contest was very close throughout the game. Neither team could get any flow going as there was pressure defense, turnovers galore, and a lot of shots that found a way to not go in. The Comets held the lead after one at 11-6. In the quarter, defense ruled as neither team could get shots to drop for the most part. The Comets defense looked locked in early, and they were quick to help when a Warriors player went anywhere near the rim. The second quarter would see the Warriors look much better with their offense, whereas the Comets just held steady, rely...

My feelings when I walked off the field for the last time as a Bethel-Tate Tiger were mixed, as I was still happy from the win we had got on senior night but still had sadness knowing the fact that I knew it was my last time as a Tiger. What mark do you believe your class left on the football program? I believe the mark my class left on the program was how to preserve it. We had a few very great years, but some were not as good years, but we continued to work hard throughout it all, and I think that will stick in the program for a long time. What was the biggest lesson you have learned in playing sport...
