(Basketball)Granville 62 Whitehall 48

Image
Tonight at Graville High School, the Blue Aces hosted the Whitehall Rams. Heading into this one, Granville was (4-2) according to Hudl.com, and the Rams came in at 3-5. This one started out with a lot of hand checking and body bumping, with each team appearing to try and get under the skin of their opponent. As the game wore on, it really looked like the Blue Aces handled things very well, while the Rams never were able to get into a rhythm as the frustration showed more and more as the game went on, and the coach for the Rams picked up a technical foul as he seemed to almost explode over a call or non-call. In all fairness, the coach regained his composure after the T. Granville would lead after one 18-11. The lead seems to slowly grow as the quarter went along. In the second quarter, Granville led 28-20, surviving a little early run by the Rams. In the second half, the Rams trailed 14 after three quarters, 45-31. The Rams cut the lead to five at one point but seemed to fall a...

(Basketball)Alexander Spartans tame the Waterford Wildcats 49-44

Image
Albany, Ohio The home team, the Alexander Spartans, came in with a 1-7 record, while their counterpart in this one, the Waterford Wildcats, was 3-4. Waterford had just three seniors on their roster, while the Spartans had six, with just two of them being in the starting lineup. Alexander took a 13-12 lead after one quarter, with both teams playing hard with a lot of contact, allowed by the stripes. The Spartans maintained their lead 25-22 as the half ended. Neither team seems to be getting into any real type of flow as the defenses and some untimely turnovers seem to control the half. The Wildcats would have a solid second half but not solid enough to overcome the Spartans as they fall 49-44. The Spartans were able to do just enough to post the win, holding off a fierce late-game comeback. The Spartans had three players score in double figures, with Jace Cooper leading the way with 17. Scoring ten apiece were Mason Morris and Isaac Waller. For the Wildcats, Finn Penn...

(Basketball) Waverly Tigers roar in win over Logan 58-47

Image
Albany, Ohio Waverly came in just 2-3, while Logan was 1-5; both teams desperately needed a win to try and change the early season atmosphere. Neither team looked like a team that had struggled in the early season just going off of their effort and tenacity, as both were moving up and down the court showing a competitiveness one would not expect to see from two teams that were struggling. The Tigers would lead by just one after one, 15-14. In the second quarter the Tigers outscored the Chieftains by 7 to lead 30-22 at the half. The second would be much of the same, with both teams playing hard with the Tigers winning 58-47. Leading the Tigers with 26 points was sophomore Teagan Hurt.
