(Basketball)Alexander Spartans tame the Waterford Wildcats 49-44
Albany, Ohio The home team, the Alexander Spartans, came in with a 1-7 record, while their counterpart in this one, the Waterford Wildcats, was 3-4. Waterford had just three seniors on their roster, while the Spartans had six, with just two of them being in the starting lineup.
Alexander took a 13-12 lead after one quarter, with both teams playing hard with a lot of contact, allowed by the stripes. The Spartans maintained their lead 25-22 as the half ended. Neither team seems to be getting into any real type of flow as the defenses and some untimely turnovers seem to control the half.
The Wildcats would have a solid second half but not solid enough to overcome the Spartans as they fall 49-44. The Spartans were able to do just enough to post the win, holding off a fierce late-game comeback.
The Spartans had three players score in double figures, with Jace Cooper leading the way with 17. Scoring ten apiece were Mason Morris and Isaac Waller. For the Wildcats, Finn Pennock had 17 points, three three-pointers.
