2024 Interview with Quarterback Preston Fauber from Paint Valley High School

Image
Preston Fauber Paint Valley High School Quarterback 2026 What was the biggest adjustment you made to your game after transferring to Paint Valley? Putting in a lot more time into film study, breaking down defenses with the coaching staff, and being able to make the ride read with no thought during the games. What was the biggest surprise to you as far as football in the Scioto Valley Conference goes? The rivalry’s between all the schools in the SVC and the competitiveness between every single team. What is it like to play for Coach Dye? It’s amazing that a man puts in so much work not just during the season but year-round; he’s always helping us get better in not just our athletics but making all of us better men. Up until now, what has been your biggest achievement as an athlete? Making an honorable mention of our district. What has been your biggest embarrassment as an athlete? I probably got my helmet ripped off in multiple games last season. Where should the state fin

2024 Interview with Caden Estep two-sport athlete from Wheelersburg

Image
Caden Estep Wheelersburg High School OL/DL Class of 2026 Last year, when we spoke, you said that one of your goals was to get on the field. Did you achieve that goal, along with how you felt you played once you were in the game? No, I didn’t achieve that goal. The linemen that I had in front of me were good linemen, and I knew my role, but I was a starter on our juniorvarsity team with a record of 5-2, with the two losses coming from two good JV teams, the Ironton Tigers and the Raceland Rams. But I am still working toward that goal. I am excited for this year. I already have the countdown for Ironton,Jackson, and harvest prep. Wheelersburg had another successful year, going 9-4 with two losses to a very stout Harvest Prep team. What do you think it will take to not only better the record but also get past Harvest Prep in the playoffs? It will definitely be a dogfight of a game. We got to play our best and definitely work on keeping our best players from breaking out big plays

2024 Interview with D-1 Recruit Isiah Stoudemire from Stebbins High School

Image
Isiah Stoudemire Stebbins High School Center, Guard, and Tackle 2025 Have you attended any camps, or do you plan on attending any camps to improve your game? If so, can you tell all of us which camps? Yes, I plan on attending some camps this year to improve my game. For example, I’m attending the Best of the West Combine on February 19. What were your personal highs and lows of the season? Some highs of the season are definitely being around your teammates and creating special bonds with those teammates. Some lows are definitely the injury part of the game because when you’re out, you can’t really do anything, and you lose a lot of time to get better. What are you going to miss the most from the 2024 class? I think I’m going to miss the intensity of each practice and game because that really hyped us up this season. Stebbins went 4-7 last season. In looking at the scores you guys struggled to score in 2023, what went wrong with how you guys plan on changing that this season?

2024 Interview with Andrew Pickenpaugh from Monroe Central High School

Image
Andrew Pickenpaugh Monroe Central Right Tackle, Defensive Tackle 2025 In 2022, Monroe Central posted a 2–8 record. This past season, you guys finished 7-5, including a playoff win over South Gallia. What were some of the reasons for such a nice turn-around? I think one of the biggest reasons we were able to make a turnaround was because of the starters from the 2022 season that we had returning. We were a young team that year, with most of our starters being underclassmen. As we gained more experience and momentum in the offseason, we were able to take that and transition it into the 2023 season. We also had a few changes to the coaching staff. We hired a new head coach, brought in new line and special team coaches, along with promoting our old line coach to DC and bringing back Coach Schuerman to help with the defense. Coach Circosta also helped in a big way and served as a mentor to us. These changes to the staff, I felt, helped propel us into a successful season. How importa

2024 Interview with Tate Catanese from Panama Central School (CSP) New York

Image
Expect big things from this QB out of New York. He has just scratched the surface of the talent he has. Name: Tate Catanese School: Panama Central School (CSP) Class: 2025 Position(s): QB What all are you doing during the off-season to help you become a better player on the field this coming season? I am improving mentally and physically. I watch the film as much as I can to see what I can improve on for this upcoming season. Getting in the weight room and throwing the football as much as I possibly can. What are the best and worst parts of playing quarterback? The best part of being a quarterback is that you are in full control of the offense and are able to be a vocal leader for your team. The worst part of being a quarterback, for me, is all the self-criticism that I give myself since I hold myself to a high standard and try to knit-pick everything. What do you feel you need to improve on the most to be even more dominant on the field? Being more mentally locked in. Watchi

2024 Interview with two-sport athlete Madyx Gruber from Wilson High School (Pa)

Big things are in store for this hard-working future star. Keep your eyes on him not only this coming season but in 2025 too. Madyx Gruber Wilson High School Wr/Db 2025 Entering the 2023 season, what personal goals had you set for yourself, and did you hit the goals? My personal goals going into the season were to just try and get on the field, no matter what position it would be. Even if that meant being a special teams player, I was hoping to get time, and I played a lot more than I expected. What is the best and worst part of a Wilson Bulldog practice? I think the best part of our practices is when we are competing and going head-to-head against one another, and the worst part would definitely be conditioning. Coach Dahms does not joke about conditioning. What have been the highs and lows so far as an athlete in your career? The highs of the season are definitely being around your teammates and creating special bonds with those teammates, which ultimately builds chemistr

Sticking with goals What were your personal goals heading into the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? I came into my freshman year weighing only 125 pounds. We have been together as a team since we were 6, so we have an undeniable bond. Up until right now, who is the best player

2024 Interview with the talented Jonathan “JonJon” Stevens Jr. from Westerville North High School

Image
J onathan Stevens Jr. Westerville North DB, WR, RB 2025 What were your goals entering the 2023 season? Compete hard and learn as much information about football as possible from the new coaching staff to help win games for my team. Were you able to achieve those goals? Definitely, I learned a lot about football, and we had a great season compared to those in the past. What were some of the changes that Coach Jackson made that helped turn the program around? Culture change was the main one. The team having to wake up every morning at 5 to get ready for practice definitely made the team take things seriously and build a winning attitude. I was able to cover the South vs. North game. The crowd was large, loud, and crazy at times. The game did not go the way you guys wanted. What must you guys do differently to end their streak this season? Everybody has to be on the same page; people can’t be trying to do their own thing while trying to be heroes. We all need to come togethe

Name: Tyson Pino School: Butler High School (Butler, PA) Position(s): QB, DB Class: 2026 What were your personal goals heading into the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? My goal was to be the starter for JV and get some Varsity time, which I did. I was able to start and play an entire game on Varsity. I also had a goal for our team to have a winning season. JV accomplished that goal with a record of 7-2. Butler dropped to 2-8 last season. What do you feel went wrong, along with what the 2024 team will have to do to turn things around? Varsity had a lot of injuries, which kept key players on the sidelines at times, in addition to a lack of depth at certain positions. Also putting players in the right positions to make an impact based on their strengths. We needed to spend more time conditioning and reviewing films together. As for what our team is doing to make 2024 different than years past, we are hitting the ground running. After a disappointing 2023, we ha

I don’t regret anything about my career, but if I could go back in time and give my younger self some advice, I would say to really cherish every moment and not take anything for granted. Image
Name: Xavier Hunter School: Columbus East Positions played: RT/DE Class: 2025 What is it like to play for Coach Bell? Honestly, it’s great to play for Coach Bell; he’s teaching me and my teammates how to become better football players and better young people and teaching us good things to know in the future. You are listed as a tight end and a defensive end. Of the two positions, which do you feel you are best at? Defensive end for sure, but I feel like I have more potential at tight end. Of the two positions that you are listed as playing, which one is the toughest to prepare for? Explain I played offensive tackle during the season, and I would say that’s the hardest position to prepare for because you have to come out with the mindset to just be nasty and dominate. What was it like to get that long-awaited win over Beechcroft? The win over Beechcroft was one of the best nights of my life because me and my teammates worked so hard over the summer to get that win over B

What were your goals heading into the season, and did you achieve them? Stick with your season, senior. On a personal note, what were the high and low points? There were a bunch of high points this year, but I think for me, beating Coal Grove, something we hadn’t done in over 10 years, was definitely a high point of the season for me. And definitely the low point for me would have to be the end of the season, just realizing our team's 12-year brotherhood is coming to an end. Looking back on the 2023 season, did it seem to go by faster than previous seasons? 100% of the games flew by weeks 4 to 6, which felt way too fast. Looking back on your high school football career, what is the moment you will remember the most, along with your biggest regret? The moment I will remember the most is when they told us we ma

One of my personal goals that I wanted to achieve was that I wanted to not fold in big situations. I believe that I made the most of most of my opportunities, so I would say I achieved my goal. What was the biggest moment for you during the 2023 season? My biggest moment in the 2023 season was scoring three touchdowns in our first round of the playoffs. You are listed as a running back and linebacker. Of the two, which one do you feel you are better at? I feel that I’m good at both, just because if I wasn't, I wouldn’t have been starting on both sides of the ball. I’d rather play running back, but it doesn’t really bother me which side I play as long as I get to show what I’ve worked for. Of the two positions you play, which one is the toughest to prepa
