Article-New Bremen 27 Ansonia 12

Using the New Bremen roster from Max Preps and the Ansonia roster from a few different sources.

Friday night took me to Ansonia, Ohio, for the first time to watch the Ansonia Tigers host the New Bremen Cardinals. This would be my first time seeing the Cardinals play and just my second time seeing the Tigers.

The Cardinals were in the early stages of a 15-play, 57-yard scoring drive when Gavin Dicke threw a little pass to Jacob Kelly, who busted a tackle, picking up nine yards. Dicke picked up nine yards on a run to again move the chains. The long drive ended when Dicke used the work of his lineman to go one yard for the score. AJ Rismiller was true on the P.A.T. kick to increase the Cardinals' lead to 7-0, with 4:43 left in the quarter.

With 1:27 showing on the clock, #4 (NOT ON THE ROSTER) Jacob Schmitmeyer picked up thirty-one yards with a nice run, thanks to some effective blocking that paved the way. The drive continued into the second quarter, where #21 (NOT ON THE ROSTER) Austin Thobe raced to a twenty-yard gain, with 11:53 left in the half. Throbe ended the twelve-play, seventy-eight-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to make it a 7-6 game at 10:12 on the clock.

The same swing pass that worked earlier in the game with Dicke hitting Kelly picked up ten yards. A fumble by Ryan Leichliter was recovered by the Tigers at the 7:13 mark. The PA guy as with me could not see who came out of the pile with the ball.

The last big play of the half came when Jacob Kelly  caught a pass picking up seventeen-yards.

The Cardinals struck fast needing just two plays to go fifty-three-yards for their next score, and that came on a forty-seven-yard run from Dicke to make this a 14-6 game, with 9:00 left in the third quarter.

Dicke picked up fifteen-yards with 5:31 showing on the clock. Then with 4:30 left in the quarter Dicke found Leichliter for tweleve-yards, with 4:30 left. Dicke picked up thirty-yards on another run, where he displayed his speed. We had a 20-6 game after Kelly scored from three-yards out at the 2:46 mark of the quarter.

With 9:13 left in the game the TIgers converted a fourth and one, when Thobe went up the gut for a gain of four. Cade Shellhaas foud a falling down Schmitmeyer for a six-yard touchdown to make this a 20-12 game, with 7:19 left.

The Cardinals clicnched the game with a Dicke to Kelly fifty-five-yard touchdown pass to give ud a 27-12 game.

Tommy McNaughton did give the Tigers some life with a interceptions with 5:02 left but the offense that produced just eighty-seven-yards in the second half could not take advantage of the turnover.
