Harrison Central has a special stadium. Can you tell the readers what makes it so special?

Harrison Central Stadium is a very special place; it holds a lot of memories for me and the guys that I’ve worked beside through my high school career and before that. Friday night home games are even more special thanks to the help of our fans and the community, who always support us no matter what. They make the memories more fulfilling. We are extremely grateful and blessed for the stadium we have and are proud to play football where we play it.

How long have you played football, along with the reason you continue to play?

I’ve played football since I was in 3rd grade. It was the first way I found to have fun growing up. From throwing the football in the yard with my dad or even mom, I always found the excitement of being out on the field and putting in work, even when I was just a kid. I told myself before high school to keep a high head and use what I’ve developed to play my hardest.

How long have you been a punter?

I’ve been a punter since I was in the 7th grade. I was never really excited about being the punter; I just did it as part of my job. When I got to high school, I really started to focus on punting more, as far as taking it to the offseason. Just by going into my backyard and kicking the ball around, I developed better technique and skill at the position. By my sophomore year of football, I was still putting in work close to every single day, even staying after practice sometimes to get reps. It was a main position for me.

What is the hardest part of punting?

The hardest part of punting is knowing where to place the bet. Getting hang time in the punt is very hard while getting distance at the same time. Getting the ball into a perfect spiral while doing all those at the same time.

What’s the hardest part of playing quarterback?

The hardest part of playing quarterback has to be communication. Building chemistry with your receivers and your guys upfront is hard to do. I fortunately had the upper-class man help with a 3-year starter in front of me to show me the way of being a quarterback. Remembering all the plays, the reads, and every little thing about the team as the leader is a hard thing to do.

What has been your longest punt in a game?

My longest recorded punt in a game has been 48 yards in our team’s first playoff win in school history.

What’s the best part of being a quarterback?

The best part of being a quarterback is having the ability to lead a team and make plays with guys who go out and get the job done. Having the responsibility and the accountability. It’s very important for every QB to understand those things.

Who is the toughest teammate to face in practice?

That’s a very hard question to answer. All of our guys are very tough and put lots of work into being good at what they do. I would have to say the hardest teammate to go against in practice has had to be Chaz Culbertson. Very physical, tough, and hard-working player. Extremely determined about the game of football.

What are your personal goals for 2024?

The goal for 2024 is to just get better and achieve the standards that were set by the guys before us. The biggest goal has to be winning more playoff games and making it further into the season.

Where should the state finals be held?

I think the state finals should be kept in the canton like they have been. It’s a great environment.

What type of defense is the hardest to face?

The hardest defense to face has to be a three-front. With four linebackers in the secondary, it just makes the job of throwing more difficult.

As a quarterback, what is your favorite type of weather to play in?

Personally, I like to play in early-fall 68-degree weather at night under the lights. Just a little overcast with no precipitation—that’s perfect.

What is your favorite type of music?

My favorite type of music has to be hip-hop.

Other than sports, what do you like to do for fun?

I like to hang out with family, play video games from time to time, and spend time with my close friends.

Where is your dream vacation spot?

My dream vacation spot has got to be the Bahamas.
