Article Worthington Christian(JV) 36 Foxfire 0

Things started well for the Phoenix on their 2nd drive, when Senior quarterback Michael Ward lofted a pass to Julian Harvey for a 40-yard gain. Ward would be sacked by, I believe, David Graham. Ward, on third and fifteen, used his legs to pick up fourteen. Then on fourth down, Ward used the work of his line to pick up three yards to move the chains, with 4:47 left in the quarter. The quarter ended with the game locked at zero.

Foxfire converted another fourth down when Kolton Moore picked up seven yards with 2:38 left. A bad snap allowed AJ Foust and Solomon Zerkle to sack Ward, with 53.3 seconds left. The drive netted zero points as the Warriors' defense dug down deep, stopping the drive that totaled 15 plays and went for forty three yards.

The Warriors' first offensive possession lasted for just four plays and went for five yards, after starting on the Foxfire twenty-yard line after their defense recovered the first play of the game fumble. This time, Foust, a 5-9 140-pound quarterback, connected with Zerkle for a gain of forty-three yards, with 15.5.

Jackson Wiley picked up nine yards to give the Warriors a first and goal at the Firefox five-yard line. The 7-play, 68-yard drive closed on a thirteen-yard touchdown run by Foust to make this a 6-0 game, with 7:26 left in the half.

Misfortune again showed up when the Phoenix's bad exchange on a handoff allowed Dylen Bell to pounce on the ball to put the Warriors offense back on the field, with 6:17 left in the half. One play later, Foust hit Henry Hartings for the fifteen-yard touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion pass from Foust to Zerkle to make this a 14-0 game, with 6:10 left in the half.

With 5:56 left in the half, Ward was picked off by Maddox Bell. Foust hit Hartings for a thirteen-yard touchdown to cap off the 7-play, 20-yard drive. After Wiley converted the two-point run, we had a 22-0 game, with 3: 10 left in the one-side half.

Ward would convert a fourth and five with a nine-yard run, but the quarter ended with his team still trailing 22-0.

Foust found Walker Gill for fifteen yards, with 8:40 left in the third. A twenty-five-yard run from Zerkle kept the Warriors' drive going; with 7:40 left, a twenty-five-yard run from Zerkle gave the Warriors another first down. Wiley raced to a thirty-one-yard run to set up a first and goal at the Firefox four-yard line. Wiley ended the 7-play, 80-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run, making this a 28-0 game.

A bad snap on a punt allowed David Graham to tackle Kolton Moore for a loss of twenty-four. RJ Nicholas added a one-yard touchdown run, and then the Warriors 34-0 elected to go for two points with Foust hitting Walker Gill to make this a 36-0 game.

The teams traded turnovers before this game ended. First, AJ Tipton recovered a fumble for Firefox at his own four-yard line, then the Warriors got a pick from Zerkle.
