Game report Wisconsin/ Hudson 52 Wisconsin Rapids 7

 My first-ever game in Wisconsin took me to Hudson High School to watch the Raiders battle Wisconsin Rapids. The game was a battle until a questionable interception went against the Rapids; from there, Hudson would run away for the 52-7 win.

Hudson needed just one play to take the lead with Grant Bjerke outrunning the defense for a 38-yard touchdown. Grady Simones got the hold down and Keean Holden nailed the P.A.T. making the a 7-0 game, with 11:45 left on the clock.

Owen Richardson connected with JD Weiland for a gain of fiftheen to get the Rapids offense moving. On fourth and three, Richardson found Colby Dix to move the chains, keeping the drive alive. Richardson ended the 14-play, 74 yard drive with a 24yard touchdwon pass to Caden Schalinske from 24-yards out. Jack Akkerman tied things up with his P.A.T.

John Hasapopoulos broke off a 16-yard run to help set up a 32-yard field goal from Holden, making this a 10-7 game.

Late in the quarter, Jordan Wilson was given credit for getting an interception, and this opened the floodgates for Hudson.

It would take the Raiders 7 plays to move the ball 67-yards to take a 17-7 lead wihth 11:53 left in the half. The scoring play came on a halfback pass type play, with Simones finding Delani Oreso from 38 yards out.

What looked like a 67-yard touchdown run by Grant Bjerke was called back do to a block in the back call against the Raiders. The seven-play, 67-yard drive came to close on a two yard run from Bjerke putting Hudson up 24-7, with 8:01 left in the half.

At the 5: 29 mark of the 2nd quarter, facing a fourth and three, Caden Schalinske picked up five to give the Rapids the much-needed first down. The Drive ended when Richardson threw a pick to Alex Healy.

Bjerke found Oreson, who broke a tackle and then raced for the 63-yard score to make this a 31-7 game, with 3:49 left in the half. The drive took just three plays and went for 73 yards.

Chase Munger would sack Richardson with 2:32 left in the half to help get the Hudson offense back on the field a short time later. Bjerke broke a weak tackle attempt, picking up 38 yards before being brought down, with 2: 14 left in the half. With 9.6 seconds left in the half, Bjerke eased in for the two yard score to make this a 38-7 game.

The third quarter would bring an interception by Healy with 8:33 showing on the clock. Then there was a sack on Richardson by Jack Dumond and Munger. With 6:34 left, Richardson was picked off by Braden Voelker. The lone score in the quarter came on a 19-yard run from Jake Kowles, making this a 45-7 game.

Hunter Regar got the ball back to the Hudson offense when he picked off an LJ Schmutzer pass. The ensuing drive came to an end on an eight-yard touchdown run from Holden Nichols, giving us the final score of 52-7.

Adreyan Gingras-Pugh picked off a Schmutzer pass with 6:31 left in the game. With 4:51 remaining, Anuj Bhakta was hit for a short loss by Nolan Weiland. The last play of note in this one came on a 30-yard run from Schmutzer.
