My first-ever game in South Dakota took me to Selby to cover the Harding County Rancers at Herreid/sLBY Area game. The game was a dogfight from start to finish, keeping the crowd closely tuned to the action. 
Redmond Meyer shook loose for a 12-yard run, then a leaping catch for 29 yards by Tyrel Koan on a nicely thrown ball by Ryder Hunsucker. However, the drive ended without any points being scored as the Herreid/Sleby defense toughened up.

The first quarter had just 0:47 seconds left when Thatcher Kihne connected with Kaden Russell for a gain of 23 yards. The 6 play, 99 yard drive ended with a 37 yard run from Porter Gregg to put the Wolverines up 6-0, with 11:49 left in the half.

After a big kickoff put the ball on the 30-yard line and one play later, we had a 6-6 game when Hunsucker found Koan for the score, with 11:32 left in the quarter.

The Wolverines would get a 24-yard run from Gregg to get things rolling. Kihne would be sacked by Grant Hagen for a loss of six, with 10:41 left in the half. Kihne hit Kaden Russell for 24 yards, shaking off the sack just moments later. A fumble by Luke Fiedler was recovered by Brody Williams, ending the drive with 7:28 left.

After getting the ball back, the Wolverines' offense got back to work with Kihne completing a 33-yard pass. A five-yard touchdown run from Gregg made this a 12-6 game, with 1:07 left in the half. 

Before the half ended, Hunsucker connected with Koan for a gain of eighteen.

The Ranchers defense got a big play when they stopped Kihne was stopped three yards short. Elim Simmons picked up 25 yards on a nice run to get the Ranchers offense going. Simmons ended the drive with a 7-yard run but was stopped on the two-point conversion try, leaving things locked up at twelve.

A nicely run screen pass play was run by the Wolverines, resulting in Russell picking up 15 yards, with 5: 51 left in the third quarter. The promising drive ended when Fiedler put the ball on the ground, and William Erk pounced on it.

Hunsucker found Koan for thirty yards, with 4:01 showing on the clock. Koan would race for a 33-yard run to make this a 18-12 lead, at the 2:32 mark of the quarter. 
Gregg was stopped by Revyn Floyd for a short loss, but the offense was able to recover nicely with Kihne hitting Russell for 25 yards.

The final stanza had 10:30 left when Gregg picked up 9 yards to give HSA a first and ten on the Ranchers' 11-yard line. Kihne tied things up with a five-yard run with run, with 9: 39 left in the game.

Hunsucker connected with Coby Arthur for 20 yards, with 7:00 left in the game. The next big play came with 4:51 showing on the clock, with Koan picking off Kihne. The biggest play in the game came with 0:22 seconds left in the game. After Tyson Schumacher made a nice catch, he coughed up the ball, and scooping and scoring from  45 yards out was Kihne, making this a 26-18 game.
The last play of the game was an interception by Tatum Quaschnick.
