(Game Report) Greenup County 56 West Carter 6

I have the roster from the game last night for West Carter given to me by Coach Barker's wife.


Last night I made another trip to Boyd County High School to cover the double-header grid games. This time was different because it was my first visit to the ir sweet new stadium. The opening game was between West Carter and Greenup County. This was a grid game so the overall score is what I am using but for those who are a little picky, 56-0 was the varsity score.


Greenup County opened the scoring with 7:52 showing on the first quarter clock, when #9, Ashur Wireman broke a weak arm tackle attempt then sprinted 29 yards for the score. #7 Carter Nunley connected on the PAT making this a 7-0 game. The drive went for 56 yards taking just 5 plays.


One minute later West Carter coughed up the ball and making the recovery for Musketeers was #0 Jasper Davis. From there a 10-yard run from #29 Collin Melvin got the ball rolling. The 6 play, 21 yard drive came to an end when Davis scored from 5 yards out to make this a 14-0 game, with 4:00 left in the quarter.


The West Carter defense got a sack from Joey Oppenheimer when he got to Davis for a loss of nine.


With 7:45 left in the half Greenup County ended a 4 play, 41 yard drive, when Davis found a wide-opened Landry Lewis for the 39 yard score to make this a 21-0 game.


Nolan Clarkson piked off a Westin Kiser pass with 5:50 left in the half to putying the Musketeers offense right back on the field. A 20 yard pass to Lewis got the drive going in a big way. The on the drives fifth play Jacoby Holland hauled in a 20 yard pass to make this a 28-0 game, with 3:41 left in the half.


Greenup County was able to score once more before halftime with Noah McCullough hauling in a 35 yard touchdown, where he easily broke several tackles on his way to pay dirt making this a 35-0 game.

Facing a fourth and five Greenup County picked up the first down when Ashur Wireman picked up 18 yards, with 8:25 left in the third. A 27 yard pass to Lewis help set up a 3 yard score from User Avatar
Noah McCullough making this a 42-0 game, with 7:26 left in the quarter. 


West Carter put the ground on the ball with 6:22 left and making the recovery for Greenup County was, Nolan Clarkson. It took the offense just three plays to go the 29 yards needed to make this a 49-0 game, at the 5:26 mark. The score came on a 10 yard run by Clarkson. 


A pick by #23 (NOT ON THE ROSTER) got the ball back for Greenup County. One play later this was a 56-0 game, with Noah McCullough went 7 yards for the score.


There were two nice plays in the running clock final frame the first came on a 37 yard run from Charlie Vanover from Greenup County and the last one coming on a 75 yard touchdown run from #2 Connor Oney making the final score 56-6.
