Please post something from last season that sticks out to you. It can be from a game, practice, or something funny on the bus ride to or from the game—any moment that sticks out to you.

I broke my finger early in a game last season.  The trainers wrapped it up and cleared me to go back in.  I had to play out of a 3 point instead of a 4 point.  It made me much faster and more effective, and I ended up having one of my best games.

Defensive end or defensive tackle: which one is the hardest to prepare to play?

D tackle is harder because you are making contact so much sooner.  You have to be prepared to make your move sooner, and you have to have a bigger skill set to be successful in your phone booth.

Defensive end or defensive tackle: at this point which one do you feel you are better at?

Defensive Tackle

Every defensive lineman has a go-to move. What is yours?

I have a set of 3–5 moves that I am comfortable with, but I typically start with a double swipe and progress from there based off of what I am seeing.

What was the biggest lesson you learned last season?

That I am much faster and more effective out of a three point stance.

How often do you watch game film on your own?

Very often during the season.  During the offseason I study training videos and film of my training sessions to focus on my development.

What is your game-day routine?

I don’t have a very specific routine currently for game day. That is something I plan to develop this season. Last year it was basically breakfast, school, eat with the team after school, stretch, warm up, and play.

What is the toughest part of practice?

The only tough part of practice is when we get to the really hot part of summer and you have to try to push through no matter how uncomfortable it is.

If you are having football related problems, which teammate would you go to for help?

Samson Lingenfelter

What makes you a good teammate?

I have very thorough knowledge of our playbook.  Players and coaches know they can depend on me to know the plays, everyone’s alignments and assignments,to help get everyone in the correct spot, etc.

I also help coach the less experienced guys on their stance, pass rush moves, and any other ways I can.

What is the worst weather to play in?

Extremely hot and humid games are the worst.

What are your personal goals for the season?

My goals for the season are to be a starter on the varsity D line, double-digit sacks, and improve on the 3 forced fumbles I had last season.

What goals are you setting for the team?

Win the GWOC.

What scares you?

The thought of doing karaoke in front of a crowd.

What is your favorite fruit?

Grapes

What is the one song you get pumped up the most from, and who sings it?

Master of Puppets by Metallica
