(Baseball/Game Report) Whetstone 5 Northland 0

After work and the gym I made the drive to Whetstone High School to watch the Braves battle the Northland Vikings. The Braves came in (8-3, 5-0 Columbus City League), while the Vikings came in (7-4, 5-4 City League). The first time these two met, the Braves posted the 14-1 win.

In today's game the Braves posted the 5-0 win. The Braves had just six hits, but the Vikings only had two. In the field the Vikings hurt themselves with four errors, while the Braves had zero.

Nikolai Yensel went the distance for the Vikings. He gave up six hits and one earned run. He had zero walks with four strikeouts. For the Braves, sophomore August Johnson also went the distance. He gave up just two hits, walked zero, and struck out fifteen.

Yensel and Mikey Castellanos had the two hits for Northland, both singles. The Braves' five hits were also all singles, with Laz Benson leading the way with two hits. Olive Hittle, Grant Gaberell, Johnson, and Kaiden Kirk each had a hit. Kai Moses had 4 RBI, and Benson had one.

I also want to say thank you to Whetstone Head Coach Tim Broskie for keeping me updated on the game being moved from Northland to Whetstone and for always allowing me to take pictures in the dugout when I need to, on the field, and everywhere else I roam. But most of all I want to thank him for treating me as well as he has each time I cover his team.
