Kirtland 41 Hopewell-Loudon 6

Kirtland was matched against Hopewell-Loudon in the D-6 State Championship game, and when all was said and done, the game would end with a running clock, and like the five games played before this championship game, it was not competitive at all.

The Hornets used a 9-play, 60-yard drive to jump ahead 7-0 after their first drive, and they would never trail in this one. Jake LaVarde hooked up with Ryan Caimi for 32 yards to take the ball down to the Chieftains' 17-yard line. LaVerde ran for 9 yards, and then it was a 7-yard touchdown run by John Silvestro, followed by the PAT from Marko Valentic.

Hopewell-Loudon would get a Brody Brickman 10-yard run, but he would be hit by Cameron Treadwell, causing a fumble that Jack Colatruglio recovered, keeping the ball with the Chieftains. The drive would last for 14 plays and cover 65 yards but end with a turnover on downs.

Silvestro scooted for a 54-yard gain to get the Hornets going again. LaVerde picked up 12 yards on two runs, followed by Silvestro, who picked up 15 yards on two runs. The drive continued into the 2nd quarter, where Silvestro scored from 4 yards out to make this a 14-0 game.

Hopewell-Loudon would gain 24 yards on their next drive, with the biggest plays coming on a Jacoby Ellis 11-yard pass to Brickman and a 10-yard pass to Kellen Frankart. The drive ended when Ellis threw a pick to Ryan Caimi.

The Hornets' next score came in the third quarter when Silvestro ran 3 yards for the score, capping off a 6-play, 64-yard drive. The big play on the drive to set up the score was a 57-yard run by Silvestro. The score ballooned to 21-0.

After holding the Chieftains to 19 yards and forcing a punt, the Hornets' offense needed just two plays to make this a 28-0 game, with the score coming on a Silvestro run of 62 yards.

A 5-yard Frankart rush got things moving for Hopewell-Loudon. Brickman picked up 13 yards as the offense started showing some life. Ellis threw to Evan Ehrlich for a gain of fourteen. Then a 2-yard run from Frankart kept the train going. Frankart ended the drive with an 8-yard touchdown run, making this a 28-6 game.

The Hornets had one more score in them in the third quarter with Ty Bledsoe roaming in from 10 yards out to make this a 34-6 game.

The Hornets offense would sting the Hopewell-Loudon defense one final time when LaVerde scored on a 3-yard run to make the final score 41-6.
