2025 Interview with Daxton Gunter from Delta (INDIANA)

 Delta is my favorite place in Indiana to take in a game. The atmosphere there is 2nd to none.

What are you going to miss the most from the 2025 class?

The hard work that they had shown to play both sides of the field

What or who got you playing football?

Football always kind of stood out against all other sports.

What keeps you playing the game?

The leadership and fun I have playing with others

I have driven from Ohio to watch two Delta games, and both times the atmosphere was the best I got to see. How much can the atmosphere, fans, and cheerleaders get you fired up as a player?

A very loud crowd on my side is definitely my favorite; a crowd that has a cheer of varsity players' names when they have a good play and you can admire it definitely makes me try harder and work in tough situations.

Linebacker or wing back, which position do you feel you are better at?

I’ve been playing linebacker for much longer; I feel linebacker is where I shine just because of knowledge I’ve picked up and actually used in a game.

Which of those two positions is the toughest to prep for?

Linebacker is the toughest because you’ve always got to have a different game plan, usually every week. Different reads and keys are always tougher to prepare for than finding where you block on a defense.

What was the high point of the 2024 season?

At the start of the season, we were just flying with our hair on fire. We wanted to hit almost everyone, and we were ready to go.

What was the low point of the 2024 season?

Our lowest was when we lost our 1-2 game. We knew we had that fight in us to go get it done, but pieces just didn’t come together.

Which part of your game do you feel is the strongest part?

I think over the past year my grit to get in there, as well as my leadership, has shown and been used.

Which part of your game must you improve on the most to be a better player?

My size and my reading

What makes you a good teammate?

I think it’s just my way to help others and point things out on their scale.

Do you think every team should make the playoffs?

I think every team should. I think everyone wants to keep playing football for our short seasons.

As a player, what do you feel has to happen this season for Delta to have a winning record and a nice playoff run?

All the keys have to match together with teamwork and being appreciative of each other, knowing we are more of a family than a team, because when it comes to game time, we can’t struggle on the foundation that puts us on the field.

What is your go-to snack?

A big Uncrustable

Luke Kuechly

PlayStation is what I’ve always used.
