What is the toughest part of being a freshman starter for a big school like Dublin Scioto?
Meeting expectations set by my coaches, team, and myself
What is the best part of being a freshman starter for Dublin Scioto?
Getting to play with an amazingly talented established team and being led by an experienced coaching staff (all former college softball players).
How long have you played softball, and who or what got you started?
I have been playing softball for 10 years. My dad first signed me up for tee-ball and then coach pitch. When I started pitching on my own, I realized that I was good at it and decided to stick with it.
What are your goals for the season?
1. Winning an OCC conference championship with my HS team; 2. Improving as a team. 3. >150 SO 4. Becoming a team leader
How many pitches can you throw, and do you use them all in the game?
I think I spin the ball to all four quadrants while effectively locating them and with a change of speed to complement them. Our catchers are consistent and strong behind the plate, which always makes it easier as a pitcher.
So far this season, who has been the best team you have thrown against, and what made their hitters so good?
Hilliard Davidson, a lot of experienced players with discipline at the plate
For you as a pitcher, what is the best and worst weather to play in?
Best: sunny with a breeze, Worst: rain
Pitcher or first base, which one do you feel you are better at?
Pitcher, because I've been doing it longer and put more effort into it.
What is the strongest part of your game?
My ability to spin pitches and the deception it causes with batters.
Which part of your game as a young player do you feel you need to improve the most?
Working through and overcoming challenges in the moment of the game. My teammates and coaches are very supportive, so that helps.
Is there a big difference for you when you are throwing to a left-handed or right-handed hitter? Explain.
Whether right- or left-handed, all batters are unique and have to be pitched to as such.
Of the games remaining on the regular season schedule, which one are you looking most forward to? Why?
Playing against Delaware Hayes—they have many experienced players and are very competitive.
Who is your favorite athlete?
NiJaree Canady, softball pitcher for Texas Tech
What is your go-to snack?
Fruit
What is your favorite class or subject?
Math
