(Girls)Portsmouth runs Fairland out of the gym 63-40

Portsmouth faced Fairland twice during the regular season winning 67-49 in the first match up and then they won the second match up 47-35. The third match up really was over just a few minutes into the game. The Trojans jumped out to a 19-8 game and never let up. The second quarter was a domination by the winners as they outscored the Dragons 21-7. In the half the two big-guns for the Trojans Sienna Allen and Soft-shooting Daysha Reid showed the large crowd that was loud and very much into the game that they were the top Dawgs on the floor. Both finished with 20 points on the night. Reid hit three early threes and Allen added two.

Portsmouth outscored the Dragons 17-12 in the third. The Dragons who were beat and I believe they knew it would have spurts that showed the crowd why they were here and had such a great season. Maxpreps has them finishing the season 21-6. Most believe they will be back next season as strong as ever. The final frame would see some the Trojans winning 16-13 to post the 63-40 win. Leading the Dragons in scoring was Addyson Cornell. The 6-0 Junior had 10 points making four field goals and two free throws. Freshman Ava Layne and 5-7 Junior Baily Russell each ended their night with 8 points.

The Trojans who according to Maxpreps improve to 26-1 and will face  Creston Norwayne (25-3), who beat two-time defending champions Columbus Africentric Early College (21-8). Africentric not only had won back-to-back titles they have won nine overall.

Keke Woods had 10 for the Trojans and Hayven Carter totaled 8.
