Wellington jumped out to a 19-4 lead after one and never looked back. The Lakers would cut five points off the the lead 29-19 as the teams went into the locker room. The lead ballooned t0 48-30 after three as the Lakers had no answer for Will Flinn (19 points) or Noah Ehlers (16 points). The final would be 62-41 Wellington. Also in double figures for the winners were Will Myers and Malcolm Wade each with 11 points. For the Lakers, who do not have a full roster anywhere on line #0 lead the way with a game high 20 points. His top help came from Ty Johnston. 

Welling would hit 7 three's for the game led by Flinn with 4. The Lakers hit just 2 three's with #0 and Johnston each getting one. The Lakers hit a total of 17 field goals with # 0 having 9 of those. Wellington hit 24 field goals with Ehlers leading the way with seven.

Semi Pro: Columbus Fire 8 Port City Spartans 0 (Game called in the third because of fighting)

  Yesterday I drove to Portsmouth and met up with my friend Bill Norman after dinner at The Portsmouth Brewing Company before driving over to Spartan Stadium to watch the semi-pro football game and watch the Port City Spartans host the Columbus Fire. I have been to over 1,500 football games, or close to that amount, and I can say none of them prepared me for what I ended up seeing. The stadium had one set of lights that did not work at all that I had seen before (Jackson State University). One pole had a light missing, and another pole had one single light that did not work at all on the visitor's side, making the field dark. I saw a fan on the Spartans side of the field standing with the players vaping, and I saw a player setting on the bench for most of the game also vaping. The game itself was stopped once when the refs walked off the field for what one player on the Spartans said was because a Columbus player said something about going after the ref with a gun. I’d say a high point would be doubling our wins from the 2022 season. Some low points would be losing three close games that would’ve given us a higher seed in tournament play and not being able to win a playoff game.
