Who or what got you started playing basketball?
As a kid I played pretty much every sport, but basketball was the sport that clicked for me. I fell in love with the game, and it became my escape and my passion.
How long have you been playing?
I’ve been playing basketball my whole life.
Which part of your game do you feel you need to work on the most?
I need to keep perfecting my shot and improve my range.
Which part of your game do you feel is the strongest?
I would say my court vision and IQ are two of my biggest strengths as a player.
What makes you a good teammate?
I’m always looking to make the right play, even if that means passing up a shot to get a teammate an open look. Basketball is a team game, and when everyone works together, we all succeed.
What is the best part of being a member of the Newark Catholic basketball team?
I love being a member of this team and community. The bond that I have formed with my teammates and coaches is special. We have each other's backs on and off the courts, which makes playing as a team easy. Also, I’m very thankful for our fans and supporters. Although some games haven’t gone our way, our fans show endless support and always show up for us.
What is the toughest part of being a student-athlete at Newark Catholic?
It can sometimes be tough balancing school and sports, but my coaches and teachers are great role models and help me succeed.
Just looking at this year, who has been the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team he played on?
Hunter McKinney. He is a great scorer, a super athletic kid, and also a problem on defense. I play AAU with him, and he’s also a great teammate.
Which win during your career so far has meant the most to you, along with the reason why?
I would say our last game against Ridgedale. That was a super fun game in a very loud environment. It was a really competitive game, and with our season on the line, our guys definitely brought it, and I’m super proud of this team. We’ve gone through a lot this season but kept persevering and learning. Which is why we are having success in the postseason.
Which loss has stung the most?
Our first game of the season against Grandview Heights. We ended up losing by 2, but it was back and forth all night. We really wanted to start the season off with a win, so when we fell short, it stung. But that loss was a great learning experience, and we got better from it.
What are your favorite and least favorite drills to do in practice?
3 on 2 continuous is my favorite. My least favorite is the Kobe drill.
What will you guys need to do to defeat Patriot Prep this week?
We just have to play connected and give it all we got till the buzzer sounds. As the 9 seed vs. the 1 seed, we’re yet again the underdog. But that’s nothing new for us, and we’re going to continue to play with a chip on our shoulders.
What is your favorite type of music?
Rap
What scares you?
Not reaching my full potential.
What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
Chicken quesadilla
