(Basketball)Whiteoak 68 Portsmouth Clay 36

White Oak (4-8) came out and dominated early, outscoring Clay (0-8) 20-5 after the opening quarter. Whiteoak was three steps quicker and played like they knew the game was over before it even started. I.M.O. Clay, though outmanned and outtalented, tried to stick to the game plan and never seemed to quit as they fell further and further behind.

The second quarter would show this, as each team could score just six points each. A lot went into the low-scoring quarter, with poor shooting and turnovers leading the way. Again, it was not for the lack of effort, as each team was busting their butts on the court.

The third quarter would see 27 points scored with Whiteoad outscoring Clay 15-12. Both teams came out of the locker rooms looking a lot better than they did in the opening half. Both teams were hitting the boards hard and seem to be a little more relaxed.

The final frame would see 30 points scored, with Whiteoak getting 17 of those points. Both teams played a lot of players, with 21 in all seeing some game action. Whiteoak would have 10 players get time, and Clay would put 11 players on the floor. I believe this was a big reason both teams played better in the second half.

I had Brady Brandenburg leading the winners with 12 points, including one free throw. Zander Roades tallied two threes and 11 total points. Charlie Starks had 9 points with four buckets from the field.

For Clay, Freshman Evan Rider had three three-pointers totaling 11 points. Senior Isiah Whitt had 9 points on all three.
