What was the high mark of the 2024 season?
Week 2, it was 20-7 against Heath with 5 minutes left in the game. We made some stops on defense and offense was moving and made a comeback to win the game 21-20.
Who was the best team that Buckeye Valley faced in 2024, along with the things that made them so good?
Steubenville were very well disciplined and gave 110% every play. They knew what they had to do and executed it.
Who was the best player that you faced this past season, laong with the team he played for?
The running back from Delaware Hayes, Favor Akih
What will you miss most from the 2025 class?
The friendship—I've been playing with them for years. I could really depend on all of them on and off the field.
What did you learn about yourself this season that you can use to be a better player and leader?
I learned that putting in the work pays off. I always tried to go to the field with the boys and the weight room, and it showed this year.
Cornerback or wide receiver: Of the two, which one do you think you are best at?
I think I’m best at corner. My mindset when I line up against a receiver is that they are not better than me. I haven’t allowed a single touchdown this year.
Buckeye Valley finished 6-5 in 2024, including the playoff loss to Steubenville. What has to change in 2025 for you guys to improve on that record and have a deeper playoff run?
After the playoff game, we all learned that we have to be a tougher, more violent team. We have to give 100% effort every play. Most of our O line had no experience this year, but next year we will be ready.
What makes you a good teammate?
I’ll point out when my teammates make mistakes and help them to improve. I always offer my help if someone doesn’t know what they are doing.
When do you start preparing for the 2025 season?
I took a day break after the playoff loss, then got straight back to work.
How do you overcome a bad game?
I watched the film to understand my mistakes and learn from them. That next week I practice what I need to work on.
What is the best part of playing high school football?
The brothers I make—it’s a family out here, and when you see your teammates making plays or when you do yourself and everyone is hyping each other up—that's an amazing feeling.
What part of your game do you feel is your strongest?
My coverage, I have great cutting abilities, and my football IQ, like what’s the down and distance and what routes they like to run, helps a lot too. I love to watch films to understand my opponents.
If there were no cell phones and no internet, what would you do?
I would go outside and throw the football with my friends; maybe hoop a little bit.
What is a special or skill that you possess that would surprise those around you?
I am really good at water-skiing.
What is the one sport you cannot watch live or on TV?
Lacrosse, there’s not much action, and I just think it’s really boring.
