How long have you played football, along with the reason or reasons you continue to play?
I started football in the 5th grade. The reason I started playing the game is my love for other sports such as baseball and basketball. The reason I continue playing is the leadership and the friendship I gain each day.
You are listed as a center, a d-lineman, and a kicker. Center or the defensive line. Which of the two do you enjoy playing the most?
This is the first year I’ll be playing defensive line, but I love offense and the feeling of scoring.
Of the two, defensive lineman or center, which is the hardest to prepare for?
Center is harder to prepare for because you are the captain of the line; you make gap calls and other important decisions. So going into Week 1, you have to know every call.
What is the toughest part of kicking at the high school level?
Definitely the pressure. College players are offered scholarships to kick, and high school players are a lot of the time forced to be kickers, so the pressure could definitely build up.
What are your goals for the 2024 season?
My goals for the 2024 season are to be a leader. Last year we were all new up front, but this year I want to be a veteran on the line, even though I’m only a sophomore. I also want to win games.
How much time at practice do you get set aside for kicking?
We do around 30 minutes of practice kicking, but I stay after and show up early to kick almost every day.
Coming off of a rough 1–9 season, what will it take to turn things around this season?
Definitely a better line; as my coach says, it starts up front. Last year, we had a whole new line on both sides of the ball; this year, we got some veteran linemen back on the line.
Which game are you looking forward to the most this season? Explain
At Huntington, the Bainbridge game is always looked forward to. I also look forward to the southeastern homecoming game. I believe we will be wearing our new black jerseys for both of their games.
What is the strongest part of your game?
I feel like my speed and strength make me a good lineman. My size is not tall, but I feel my speed and strength make up for that.
What part of your game must you improve to be a better player?
You always have room to approve as a player, but I would say my run blocking, and I’ve been working on that a lot this off-season.
Where should the state finals be held?
Ohio stadium
What is your favorite class or subject?
I love history.
Who is your favorite athlete?
CJ Stroud is my favorite athlete; he has an amazing work ethic and is an amazing ball player.
What is your go-to snack?
Oreo's—never can go wrong with them!
