The only difference between the last two years is that my work ethic 

What is the toughest part of a Northland Viking practice?

4th quarter conditioning 

Who is the toughest teammate to square up against in practice?

Malakai Hammond 

What was the high point of the 2023 season? 

When were we predicted to lose to the East and win by a lot?

What was the low point of the 2023 season?

Losing to the Ridge

What is the strongest part of your game?

As a defensive lineman, the best part of my game is containing the outside and stopping runs.

What have you been able to do during the off-season to improve your game?

I’ve been working on my strength and size, as well as a 3-point get-out and 4 

What is the best part of playing on the D-line?

The contact I love to hit someone.

What is the toughest part of being a D-lineman?

Uncalled holding when I tell the ref to look for it 

After the season is over, what would it mean to you to have earned an invite to the North/South game or any of the other all-star games?

It would mean everything to participate and have an opportunity that most don’t get.

Why should a college coach recruit you?

I’m versatile as a player, and when it gets hard, I just don’t quit.

Staying with the recruiting theme, if you are hearing from any colleges, could you name one or two of them?

No, I am not hearing from any colleges.

Where is your favorite spot to grab a meal?

Fusion City is a great Jamaican spot.

What is your favorite class or subject?

American government

Carson Neely, Port Allegany  Looking back from day one as a coach up to the present, what have been the low and high points of your coaching career? 2020 was a rough first year. We had maybe 15 kids on the roster in preseason sometime in late June. We ended up with probably 6 starters who had never played football in their lives, which isn’t exactly a recipe for success! The future did not look so bright. - But fast forward to 2022, where we won our first playoff game 62-6. Followed that up with a win against the reigning western finals champion, Redbank Valley, in a 7-3 fist fight to advance to the D9 championship. In 2023, we won an overtime thriller against DuBois Area 14–13, avenging a 1-point loss at the 1-yard line the year prior.

  Braylon Sturgill Ironton High School LB/FB 2025 What were your goals entering the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? Our goal every year is simple: win a state championship. We fell short last season, but we are coming back stronger. My personal goals were to be a full-time starter and contribute to my team's success.
