How long have you played football, and why do you continue to play?

I’ve played football since the first grade. I continue to play football because it’s one of the things I love most. My whole life, I’ve had a football in my hand or had it on TV. I've always had a special passion for football.

What is the toughest part of being a student-athlete at Athens High School?

The toughest part of being a student-athlete, I would have to say, is managing your time between school work and practice. 

What is the best part of being a high school student-athlete?

The best part of being a student-athlete is having a lot of friends in school that you’ve made through sports. 

With this being your final high school football season, are you preparing any differently?

This is my final season. Is going to change how I prepare a little bit. I want to set a good example for the younger kids, be a good leader, and show them how much work you have to put in. Other than that, it’s not going to change much; I’m going to put in the same amount of work, dedication, and preparation I’ve put in for the last 3 years. I’m going into every game with the same mentality I’ve always had, which is to be the best player on the field and give it my all every play. 

What was the high point of the 2023 season?

I would say ending the season 6-0.

What was the low point of the 2023 season?
Starting the season out 0-4.

What is the strongest part of your game?

The strongest part of my game is my ability to run the ball in the open field. 

What is the toughest weather for you, as a quarterback, to play in?

The toughest weather for me to play in is the rain. It makes the ball slippery and all around not fun to play in when you touch the ball every play. 
 
Which defense is the hardest to prepare for? Explain

The hardest defense for me to prepare for is Cover 3, which shows Cover 2. I have to get better at realizing which corner drops back into Cover 3.

What are your personal goals for the 2024 season?

Top 8 passing yards for DLL
Top 3 in TVC rushing yards 

Lead the TVC in:

All-purpose yards 
Passing Touchdowns 
Passing yards 

What goals are you placing on the team this season?

My goal for the team is to win the TVC and make a deep playoff run. 

Would you rather play your rival in the opening week of the season or last week? Explain

I would rather play my rival in the last week of the season. It builds up more hype throughout the season, and it’s the last regular-season game, so it’s got to be packed. 

Why should a college coach recruit you?

A college should recruit me because I’m very coachable, I have a really good work ethic, I’m always trying to improve, and I have a positive attitude. 

If you are hearing from any colleges, would you share some of them with the readers?

I’ve heard from John Carroll University and Capital University.

After the season is over, is it important for you to earn an invite to one of the all-star games?

It would be important to me to get an all-star game invite.

Who is your favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete is C.J. Stroud.

What scares you?

Snakes 

What is your go-to snack?

Starburst or skittles

  Braylon Sturgill Ironton High School LB/FB 2025 What were your goals entering the 2023 season, and were you able to achieve those goals? Our goal every year is simple: win a state championship. We fell short last season, but we are coming back stronger. My personal goals were to be a full-time starter and contribute to my team's success.
