Caleb Wheeler

Marion Pleasant

Guard, Center, Tackle, 3T, NG

2024

Otterbein University

What was the highlight of the 2023 season?

Beating North Union to kickstart our season as well as beating Highland

What was the biggest disappointment as far as the 2023 season goes?

Losing the first round to Eastwood

What are you going to miss the most, not only from playing football for Marion Pleasant but also from going to school there?

The small school environment and the guys you grow up playing with.

Who was the best player you ever faced during the 2023 season, along with the team he played for?

We played a lot of D1 guys this year, but probably Dane Nauman from Highland.

The Spartans had a really nice turn-around season, finishing over 500. What do you think was the biggest reason for the turnaround?

The new coaching staff and everyone were being bought into what was being preached to us day in and day out and just staying the course.

What mark do you feel that your class left on the football program?

Hopefully bringing it back to winning lots of football games every year like it was a decade ago

If you are invited to play in any of the statewide all-star games, will you?

I was chosen to play in my area's all-star game, which is the NCOFCA All-Star Classic at Clear Fork High School, and I will play in it.

What was the biggest lesson you learned from playing high school football that you can use later in life?

The discipline you need every day to compete and do it at a high level every day

Can you share with the readers some of the schools that recruit you?

Otterbein, Wittenberg, Ohio Wesleyan, Capital, Baldwin Wallace, Muskingum, Ohio Northern

What made you choose Otterbein?

The coaches are all great people and great football minds, so that’s a big reason why I chose Otterbein. It’s a young team, but I wanted to be on that team that’s going to be very good soon and be part of the change.

What were the best and worst parts of the recruiting process?

It’s cool getting all the attention from coaches and schools, but it sucked when it came down to deciding on a school because there were a lot of good options. The coaches at Otterbein made it easier to make that decision.

What will your main goals be entering your freshman season with Otterbein?

Hopefully, come in and compete right away to help win some games, build a good relationship with everyone on the team, and learn the offense as much as possible.

Playstation or X-Box

Xbox

What is the one food you refuse to eat?

Hot Dog

What is your favorite or least favorite type of music?

I like all kinds of music, except jazz.
