Game Report/Benjamin Logan 35 Tecumseh 6

 

Friday night, I made my way from Columbus, Ohio, to Bellefontaine, Ohio, to watch Benjamin Logan battle Tecumseh. This marked my first time seeing these two schools play and my first game at Benjamin Logan High School.

Quarterbacks do not usually wear the number 33, but Adam Tinsman does; just nine seconds into the game he gallopped for a 33-yard gain. The defense dominated early on, resulting in a scoreless drive.

With 2:09 left in the quick-paced opening quarter, Tecumseh was back in punt formation, with Brandon Radford where he would be roughed on the punt by Micheal McCarthy, giving the Arrows an automatic first down. Devin Berner bolted for 22 yards, giving the Arrows a first and goal on the Raiders' 6-yard line, with 1:13 showing on the clock. Berner would cap off the 10-play, 65-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run to make this a 6-0 game with 0:14 seconds left in the quarter. Sergio Villegas P.A.T. was blocked by Cooper Buck.

Tinsman ended the quarter with a 15-yard run, with 15 yards being tacked on due to a face-masking flag thrown on the defense. Buck gave the Raiders a first and goal at the 2-yard line with a 28-yard run. Jordan Pender locked this in up at six with a 2-yard run followed by the P.A.T. kick from Brandon Heater to give us a 7-6 score with 11:04 left in the half.

Wyatt Predmore was leveled for a loss of three by Colin Popovich and Jeffrey Runyon Jr. with 4:48 left in the half. The Raiders would go for it in fourth and one where Predore was stopped by Jaxyn Massie and friends.

After quickly getting the ball back, the Raiders would see Massie drop Jordan Pender for a loss of four with 1:00 left in the half. Tinsman found Gabe Predmore for 29 yards ten seconds later. The 5-play, 58-yard drive ended when Tinsman connected with Wyatt Predmore for a 2-yard touchdown to give us a 14-6 game, with 0:37 left in the half.

The Arrows ate the entire third quarter up with a long drive that would see DJ Blaine haul in a nice throw from Dalton Massie for 31 yards. Massie would be dropped by Cohen Archer and Johnathon Beikman for a loss of two with 6:10 left in the quarter. Facing a fourth and three at the 4:33 mark, Massie followed his blockers to pick up the first down. A muff can allow Owen Weaks to get to Berner for a loss of six, with 4:05 showing on the clock. At the 1:51 mark, facing a fourth and five, the Arrows again converted when the Raiders jumped offisdes.

The drive continued into the final frame, where the Arrows again went for it on four and three, but this time the Raiders' defense was up to the challenge when DJ Blaine was stopped at the three, with 11:52 left in the game.

A 48-yard run from Rhett Newman helps set up a 30-yard touchdown run from Cooper Buck, making this a 21-6 game, with 9:16 left. The drive went for 97 yards, taking just six plays.

A 27-yard run from Wyatt Predmore helps set up the next score that came on a 27-yard run by Jordan Pender, making this a 28-6 game, with 6:20 left.

Dalton Massie would be dropped for a loss of five by Nate Mitchell with 6:07 left. The Raiders' defense looked fresh in the final frame as they gave up very little. The final score of the game came on a 26 tackle-breaking run by Jordan Pender, giving us our final score of 35-6.
