Game Report-Waite 45 Bowsher 14

 

Using rosters from Hudl and Maxpreps, sadly they are not complete. How hard is it for a school to send COMPLETE ROSTERS to sites they are using?

My first trip to Waite High School in Toledo was another blowout game, but the two-hour drive was worth it. Although it was another blowout game, the two-hour drive was still worth it. The game slowly got out of control as the Indians (4-2) seemed to wear down the Blue Racers (1-5).

The game could not have started any worse for Carl Foard, as he fumbled the ball three times on the opening drive. On his first fumble, #72 recovered it. On his second fumble, Tahki Myers was able to pounce on it, keeping the drive alive. On the third fumble it happened on the far side of the field, and I or the PA announcer could not see which teammate pounced on it. With 7:47 left in the opening quarter, Foard ended the 9-play, 66-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run. A bad snap ended with #3 throwing a two-point conversion pass to Myell Carter, making this an 8-0 game.

Noah Eze used his speed to pick up 19 yards for Blue Racers, with 6:57 left on the clock. Johnathan Distefano connected with Trayvon Jones for a 9-yard touchdown, and then Distefano found Tylin Cooper for the two-point conversion, locking this one up at eight apiece with 4:23 left. The drive went for 59 yards on 6 plays.

Shayne Kurns found Foard for 21 yards, and a roughing the quarterback call on the Blue Racers tacked on 15 additional yards. Kums ended the 3-play, 47-yard drive with a 31-yard touchdown toss to #80, not on the rosters. Out of the snap from #73 and the hold of Kurns and the kick from #3, we had a 15-8 game with 2:09 left in the high-octane opening quarter.

With 7:49 left in the half, #72 got to Blue Racers Eze tackling him in the end zone for a safety to make this a 17-8 game. On the ensuing Waite drive, Kurns connected with #80 for a gain of 30 yards, with 5:22 showing on the clock. Foard ended the 5-play, 46-yard drive with a sweet 15-yard touchdown run, making this a 24-8 game, with 5:15 left in the half.

Things continued to go sour for the Blue Racers when Eze fumbled the ball away to Antwan Williams at the 5:07 mark of the quarter. Kurns found #14 for a gain of 34 yards, and then a 15-yard penalty on the Blue Racers made this a 49-yard play. The drive ended with Kurns finding Williams for the 21-yard score to make this a 31-8 game, with 1:07 remaining in the half.

#15 for Waite sacked Distfeno for a loss of ten to end the one-sided first half. Unofficially the Blue Racers had just 64 yards, while the Indians had 246.

At the 9:14 mark of the third quarter, Distfeno hit Tylin Cooper for a 38-yard score to make this a 31-14 game. The drive went for 69 yards, taking 6 plays.

Kurns connected with Foard for 25 yards with 8:15 left in the third. The drive ended on a John Riggins-type run from Connor Koonce from 13 yards out, making this a 37-14 game, with 7:21 left.

On the ensuing kickoff the Indians pulled off a nice onside kick when #9 jumped on the loose ball. Foard had a 10-yard run and then ended the drive with a 16-yard run for the touchdown. Myell Carter found Kurns for the two-point conversion to make this a 45-14 game, with 5:30 left.

Eze had a 29-yard run for the Blue Racers with 3:11 left, and the last big play of the quarter came when #3 sacked Distfeno for a loss of eight with 0:55 left in the quarter.

With 4:24 left in the game, #19 Kaden Smith was picked off by the Blue Racers, Trayvon Jones. Distfeno found Jones for 30 yards. The last big play in this one came when Korbin Wright was picked off by the Indians Dezmend Jackson.
