(Game Report) MVFCA 24 SWFCA 14

(The SWOFCA ROSTER HAD MULTIPLE PLAYERS WITH THE SAME NUMBERS, SO IF I GET THE NAME WRONG JUST LET ME KNOW)

Yesterday I made my way to Xenia to catch the SWOFCA VS. MVFCA All-Star game that was played at beautiful Doug Adams Stadium. This is one of the All-Star games that seems to matter a little more to the players as it in my eyes is played with the players actually wanting to win and not just participate in another game before ending their high school football career.

Before getting into the game itself, I wanted to thank Coach Rodger Horton for taking care of me, as he has done as this game each time I covered it.

The game started out with a loud bang when Jordan Milligan (Franklin) picked off Braden Wallace (Madeira) giving the MVFCA the ball at their own 33-yard line. A 17-yard run from Andre McConnell (Stebbins0 got the ball rolling for the offense. Later on the drive the offense faced a fourth and three and McConnell picked up the first down setting up a first and goal from the 3-yard line. Bryce Staggs (Northmont) found a wide-open Ashton Pelfrey (Carlisle) for the touchdown. Gryffin Bradley (Vandalia Butler) was true on the P.A.T. making this a 7-0 game, with 6:37 left. The drive went for 8-plays, and 67 yards.

Landon Young (West Clermont) muscled his way to a 21-yard game getting the offense moving for the SWOFCA All-Stars. Wallace found Brady Schmidt (Clermont Northeastern) for a short gain and a first down with 4;14 left in the quarter. The 7-play, 65-yard drive came to and end with Wallace hitting Christian Hutchinson (Shroder Padeia) for a 21 yard score. Hitting the P.A.T. to lock things up at seven was, Parker Seibel (Northwest).

With 8;24 left in the half MVFCA was in a fourth and two situation from the SWOFCA 28-yard line. Noah Jones (Alter) used the nasty work from the hogs upfront to easily pick up the first down. Staggs used his feet to pick up 17-yards run setting up a first and goal from the 5-yard line. This became a 14-7 game after Jones pranced in for the 5-yard score, with 4:29 left in the half.

The last big play of the half came when Andre Underwood (Aiken) found Hutchinson for a big gain an unsportsman like penalty on SWOFCA took the ball back to midfield and time ran out before any more damage was able to happen.

McConnell broke free picking up 16-yards for MVFCA with 9:37 left in an up to then quiet third quarter. A 24-yard completion from Staggs to Tre'von Rowe (Northridge). A trick play, with a double pitch and a pass thrown by Henry Jones (Alter) to Staggs made this a 21-7 game.

With 5:36 Alex Kertesz (Greenon) sacked Wallace for a short loss at the 5:36 mark. At the 3:25 mark Jones muffed the snap on a punt fumbling to ball and making the recovery for SWOFCA WAS #6 (Micah Kelly (Northwest) or #6 Kayleb Curry (Northwest) at the MVFCA 2-yard line. From there Ayden Basham (Blanchester) followed the big guys up from into the end zone making this a 21-7 game, with 3:22 left in the quarter.

Staggs found Rowe for a 46-yard completion with 3:03 left. The quarter came to an end with Jones powering his way to a gain of seventeen.

We had a 24-14 game after Bradley capped off the 11-play, 90-tyard drive with a 22-yard field goal.

Some final plays before the clock hit triple zeros. Wallace ran for 15 yards. Wallace was sacked by Julius Rush (Vandalia Butler) for a loss of eight. Rowe had two big plays. He broke up a pass to Romello Mitchell (Aiken) then he picked off a pass and made a nice return.
