Please post something from last season that sticks out to you. It can be from a game, practice, or something funny on the bus ride to or from the game—any moment that sticks out to you.
One thing that sticks out was getting the game-sealing interception in our regional semifinal game against Columbus Academy. It was a low-scoring game, and everybody was battling the whole night. Seeing our sideline explode after that play was great!
What is the best part of playing for head coach Rusty Richards?
Coach Richards pushes everybody to compete and hold each other accountable. He expects a lot out of us, but that’s helped build a winning culture at Nelsonville-York.
What is the toughest part of playing for head coach Rusty Richards?
The standard is always high, so you have to be ready to work every day. You can’t take plays or practices off. Honestly, I see it as a good thing in the grand scheme of things.
What makes you a good teammate?
I just try to be somebody my teammates can count on. Whether it’s offense, defense, or special teams, I’m going to give everything I’ve got and do whatever helps us win.
What is the toughest part of being a running back?
Probably that people think running backs just carry the ball. You have to know protections, block linebackers, catch passes, and make the right read in a split second.
What are your biggest responsibilities as a defensive back?
You have to be able to read what the offense is trying to do before the play develops. Communication is huge, and you can’t let up a big play.
If the game is on the line, do you want to be on offense or defense? Explain
Either one. I love having the ball in my hands, but I also love being able to make a play on defense. I just want to be on the field when the game is on the line.
What has been your biggest accomplishment as an athlete?
Helping our team win back-to-back TVC championships and making deep playoff runs has probably been my biggest accomplishment so far.
Which road stadium has the best overall atmosphere?
Trimble always has a really good atmosphere. Their fans bring a lot of energy, and it’s always a fun environment to play in.
What was the best part of the 2025 season?
Just being around the guys every day. We had a really close team and a lot of fun together, whether it was practice, games, or bus rides.
What was the toughest part of the 2025 season?
Losing that last game. Nobody wants their season to end, especially when you feel like your team still had more football left in it.
What was the biggest lesson that you learned at the Denison camp?
The coaches at Denison coach hard and have high standards. One thing I learned is that they’re not worried about whether you make a mistake. They want to see how you respond to it. If they correct you, they expect you to listen, make the adjustment, and compete on the next rep.
If you are invited to play in any of the all-star games after the season, will you play?
Yes, definitely. It would be an honor to represent my school and compete with other good players.
Where is your favorite local spot to grab a meal?
Los Mariachis in Nelsonville.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Joe Burrow. Being from southeast Ohio, it’s cool to see somebody from this area make it all the way to the NFL and have that kind of success.
Have you watched any of the UFL games?
Honestly I haven’t watched any of the UFL games yet.
