Please
post a small recap of last season with something like a big game you
had, something about a certain game, something from a bus ride to or
from the game, or something that sticks out from a practice.
Last
season was very different, it was the first season I felt like a leader
on the team and also the first time I was close with almost all of the
graduating class. One of my best memories is our win over Blanchester
last year, ending with a blocked field goal attempt by us to hold onto
our lead after a competitive game the whole night. Celebrating in the
away locker room may not be as good as a home locker room, but that
night just felt so special and well-earned
How did you get into long snapping?
Playing
on a small team, you learn to be very dynamic, my class brought a real
kicker on to the team and I thought, as center it was my job to learn to
long snap.
Center or tackle: which one do you feel you are better at?
I feel like tackle is so new that I have to say center, but it’s a lot of fun learning new things about the game I love.
How long have you played football?
Well I remember my mom tying my cleats, so I would say 1st grade.
What keep you playing the game?
All of my friends and all of the moments that we share, laughing, celebrating, and succeeding
What is the best part of being an offensive lineman?
You get to hit every play and the run game is fully dependent on you.
What is the toughest part of being an offensive lineman?
Doing a bad job is always obvious, but a good job is sometimes unnoticed
What are your goals for the season?
I
want to increase my weight room number as always and to develop myself
as well as the rest of the O line into the most dependable players on
the field.
What team goals are you going to set?
I want us to go undefeated in league play and carry our wins into the post season play
What is the strongest part of your game?
Run game blocking and getting to the second level
What have you done during the off-season to help you become a better player?
Built
connections with new teammates coming into similar positions and made
sure my foot speed and cardio was something I could brag about.
What makes you a good teammate?
Being able to joke and laugh, and also able to push each other hard in drills, competitive practice, and weight room lifts
What is the toughest part of practice?
Sometimes I forget to eat breakfast and lifting on a empty stomach isn’t always the most fun
Who are your role models?
My dad is probably my biggest role model, I aspire to hold myself to the degree he does
What is your favorite class or subject?
I’ve always liked math, it gets less and less fun the more letters they use
What scares you?
As a football player injury is one of scariest parts of our sport, so I’ll have to say that.
