(Softball/Game Report) Whetstone 20 Westland 10 6 Innings


 

After a full day of work, I hit the gym, then made the short drive to Whetstone High School to watch the Braves battle Westland in a nonleague softball game. Westland came in with a 4–14 record, while the Braves came in with a 9–11 record.

Westland scored a run in the top of the first, only to see the Braves score four in the bottom of the inning. Westland would score four in the third to take a 5-4 lead. The Braves came back with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning to lock this one back up at five. The Cougars would lead 10-8 after four innings. The Braves retook the lead with three in the bottom of the fifth to lead 11-10. After the Cougars were held scoreless in the sixth, the Braves erupted for nine runs in the bottom of the innings to post the 20-10 win. The big blast came on a three-run bomb from Brooklyn Brauner. Brauner ended her day with three hits and 4 RBI, with 3 runs scored.

Overall the Braves outhit the Cougars 14-10. Leading the Cougars' attack was Abby Cochran with 3 hits, including two doubles and 3 RBI. Payton Justice had 2 hits and 3 RBI. She had a double. Audrey Alves: Two hits and two runs scored. Allie Cochran, Brooklyn Barnett, and Jayla Pastorek all had a hit. Barnett and Addy Collier each had an RBI.

For the Braves, helping Brauner with the sticks were Elizabeth Patras (3 hits and 4 RBI). Kiera Young (2 hits and 3 RBI). Sophie Schroeder (2 hits and 2 RBI) and Zella Ebert (2 RBI). Alena Synadinos (2 hits and 1 RBI). Lily Loman-Antoine (1 hit and 1 RBI) and Eva Yockey (1 RBI).

In the field the Cougars had ten errors compared to only one by the Braves. Each team went crazy on the base paths with eight stolen bases each. Elizabete Patras and Brooklyn Braner each led the Cougars with three steals each. For the Cougars, Brooklyn Barnett and Abby Cochran had two each.
