(Softball/Game Report) Newark Catholic 11 Reynoldsburg 1 (5 Innings)

This afternoon I made my way to Newark Catholic High School to watch the softball game versus Reynoldsburg. The Green Wave entered the game at 16-8 while Reynoldsburg stood at 1-20.

Newark Catholic had many opportunities to blow this one open in the first two innings, but they found themselves locked in a scoreless game after two innings of play.

Reynoldsburg would score their only run of the game in the top of the third to take a 1-0 lead. From there, the Green Wave scored the next eleven to post the 11-1 five-inning win. The last two runs of the game came on wild pitches, which marked the first time I got to see a game end on a wild pitch.

For the game, the Green Wave had 11 hits while the Raiders had just three. Newark Catholic batted .500 for the game, while the Raiders hit at a .167 clip.

There were three errors in the game with the Raiders committing two of those. Kayla Healy had five put-outs in the game for Reynoldsburg. Brooklyn Kurtz had six put-outs for the Green Wave.

Leading the Green Wave offense on senior night was Kurtz, with two hits and four RBI. Senior Aly Rothweiler had three hits and one RBI. Senior Joanna Bailey had two hits and two RBI. Joanna Snider also had one RBI. Senior Marissa Richards had two hits. Jahni Whitney and Senior Veronica Bailey each had a hit.

For Reynoldsburg, Rhyann Parham, Monica Wesley, and Neveah Jones each had a hit.
