(Softball/Game Report) Millersport 8 Whetstone 7


 

Whetstone traveled to Millersport today to tangle with the Lakers. Whetstone entered the game with an overall record of 9-9, 9-1 in the City League. The Lakers came in 9-6, 5-2 in the Mid-State Conference.

The two teams combined for six errors, three by each team. 21 hits, 16 by the Lakers, and 15 runs. There were 5 extra base hits in the game, all doubles, with the Lakers hitting four of them.

Khloe Hardy had 2 doubles. Gracie O'Neil and Clair Haney each had one for the Lakers. Brooklyn Brauner had the only double for the Braves.

Hardy, a freshman, led the Lakers' offense; she had 3 hits and 4 RBI. Kendyl Bonkowski, O'Neil, Ava Blevins, and Haney each had 2 hits. That trio each had 1 RBI.

For the Braves, Brauner led the offense with 2 hits and 5 RBI. Agnes Mullen had 2 hits. Elizabeth Patras had the other hit.

Bonkowski threw all 7 innings for the Lakers. She gave up 4 earned runs and struck out 16 while walking four.

Gabby Millane threw 5⅔ innings. She gave up 4 earned runs and walked three.
