Strasburg dominated the opening quarter using a nice passing game to set up easy scores and a defense that would make U. Conn's head coach Geno Auriemma smile. They killed a little over a minute of the quarter but missed a three but still led 11-5.

The second quarter was more of the same suffocating defense, this time by both teams that led to some poor shooting. Neither team gave up an inch as they were physical resulting in just 9 points being scored. The Tigers would lead 17-8 at the half. 11 Forced turnover by the Tigers, and they held Russia to just 15% shooting in the half.

Ally Miller for the Tigers had 9 points and 7 boards in the half to lead her team.

The third quarter was all Tigers as their defense seem to play even better than they had in the opening half. They held Russia to just three points. The Tigers players switch on defense about as fast as the roadrunner ran back in those old cartoons. 31-11 was the score after three.

The third quarter would bring just 13 points as defense continued to rule the day. The game was never in doubt but to the credit for the young ladies from Russia never seemed to hang their heads or quit.

For the game the Tigers connected on 38.7% of their shots. Maybe not great but when your defense holds your opponent to 15.7% shooting it will all turn into a win. Miller led the way with 17 points and 10 boards. Lydia Thomas score 8 and pulled down 6 boards. The Tigers defense forced 17 points.

Celeste Borchers had 7 of her teams 17 points.
