(Softball) Lakewood 14 Kilbourne 3 Six Innings

My fourth game of the 2026 softball season took me to Kilbourne High School in Worthington to watch the Lakewood Lancers battle Kilbourn. Lakewood comes off a 2-1 loss to the Newark Wildcats, while the Wolfes have a 1-1 record, with a win over Columbus Whetstone and a loss to Groveport.

This one started off with the Lancers holding a 4-0 lead that Kilbourne cut in half in the home half of the fourth. From there, Lakewood would lead 6-3 heading into the sixth inning, where the Lancers exploded for eight runs, and that could have been more runs, but a runner was called out for leaving a base early.

Lakewood pounded out 18 hits, including home runs from Anna Crist and Ashlyn Carder. Crist and Katie Tolliver had 3 RBI each. Averie Adams had 4 hits to lead the lancers in that state.

For Kilbourne, Freshman Kensley Pfeiffer and Junior had a hit apiece, which were the only two hits the team had. Freshman Jamie Gundel, Freshman Anna Mowad, and Junior Mallory McKinney had the RBIs for the Wolfes.

For the most part this was a clean game considering the cool weather. The lancers had just one error, while the Wolfes had two.
