Please post something from last season that sticks out to you. It can be from a game, practice, or something funny on the bus ride to or from the game. Any moment that sticks out to you.
Our media day, it was fun doing pictures with the team.
What do you feel is the strength of your game?
The strength of my game is definitely defense, and my court vision is where I pick up on most of my energy and where I'm most scrappy and aggressive. Whenever you need a steal or whenever we are down by very little, I will try my best to push and make things happen on defense that will also benefit our offensive side and find the open people.
Which part do you hope to improve the most by the time the tournament starts?
I hope to improve on not hesitating as much and taking more open shots, also reading defense a bit more, and definitely the mental aspect of my sport.
What has been the best part of the season so far?
The best part has probably been meeting new people and making new friends and watching them grow and get better as the season went on, also watching them succeed and seeing them happy and being able to be a part of their success in a way.
What has been the toughest part of the season so far?
The toughest has probably been learning to depend more on myself than on others. I’ve always had a team I could work with and not have to worry as much, and now I have people who just started playing, and I’m very thankful for their effort, but I also had to adjust and learn how to depend more on myself.
This season, who has been the best player you have faced in a game, as well as the team they were on?
I don’t think there is a specific player. I think everyone I’ve faced has put their own challenges on my game, and I’ve had to figure out how to work my way around it, but I’d definitely say the game that’s made me better is against Legacy Christian’s because that’s where I improved the most and also stepped up the most, but like I said, every team comes with their own strengths and weaknesses, so definitely all of them have been challenging in a way.
Should there be a shot clock in high school basketball?
Honestly, I think certain divisions should have shot clocks, and it would prepare us for college and learning how to play with a shot clock, so yes, because there is so much wasted time, but also no, because it kind of depends.
Should every team make the tournament? Explain
I think they should all at least have a shot at it, but at the end of the day, the whole season they are competing for their spots, so at the end it’s who wants it the most. I definitely do think they should get a chance to prove themselves, but they still need to earn it in a way, so I’m kind of in the middle about that.
What were your personal goals heading into the season?
My personal goals were to get better mentally, become more confident in the things I did, have fun, become a leader, and be more vocal.
What goals did you set for your team?
Just have fun, give it your all, and physically and mentally get better.
Which road gym is the toughest to play in?
Honestly, to me, I love playing on the road. I don’t find any road gym as being the toughest, but definitely one that’s just dead silent and empty.
Is there a college or pro player you pattern your game after? If so, who?
I try to live up to Juju Watkins because she is an amazing defensive and offensive player, and I hope to get to where she’s at today. Despite her injury, I know she’ll bounce back better than ever. She also knows how to handle pressure and never lets up.
What is your favorite part of practice?
My favorite part of practice is probably the team bonding at the end and also watching everyone encourage each other during drills and walk-throughs.
Who is your favorite WNBA player?
A'ja Wilson or Kelsey Plum
What is a style or fad your generation has that you do not get or understand?
A fad is probably the way others treat each other and why people find it so entertaining to pick on people who maybe aren’t as wealthy or don’t have the opportunities like others do or people who hold the past against them even if they are a better version of themselves now; they constantly try to bring the person down and remind them of their past.
If you could have one hour to sit and speak to anyone throughout history, who would you be speaking with?
I honestly think I would speak to Nneka Ogwumike because she really highlights the importance of women and how they should be treated just as equal as men and there is so much talent that goes to waste, but also that women should be getting paid just as much as men because there are girls who can compete with men and who are just as good.
