Please post something from last season that sticks out to you. It can be from a game, practice, or something funny on the bus ride to or from the game. Any moment that sticks out to you.

Hanging out with my teammates on an away weekend tournament trip to Logan. It was nice to just chill with the team.

How long have you played basketball, and who, or what, got you started? I started playing basketball in middle school.

My mom got me started because she loves basketball, and she was hoping I would love basketball more than the dance classes I was taking. 😂

What do you believe is the strength of your game?

3-point shooting and being aggressive on defense

Which part of your game must you improve on the most?

Driving to the basket more and getting to the foul line

I watched some of your Hudl package, and you have a quick shot. Can you share with the readers what all goes into making that look so easy and deadly?

I spend time outside of the gym working, and I try to get a couple of hundred shots up outside of practice every day that I can get in the gym. I also train with Justin Anderson, and he has helped me develop my shot more.

What is the toughest part of a Robert C. Byrd High School practice?

Having my stepdad be the coach. Just kidding… It's rough sometimes, but it's not too bad. The toughest part is we never stop—it's a high-intensity practice ALWAYS.

Who is the toughest teammate to go up against during practice?

The toughest teammate to go up against in practice is Amirah Moore. She is very aggressive and pushes me to keep working hard.

Who is the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team she was on?

The best player I have faced in a game is Brynlee Bullock—she plays for St. Mary's High School. She is tough because she is a threat inside and outside.

Should there be a shot clock in high school basketball?

I think there should be, and it would speed up the game as well. It is so much harder to play with a shot clock, and it forces ball movement.

What are your goals for the season?

To be a more diverse player. I am known for my 3-point shooting, but I want to become a strong threat in the paint.

What team goals did you set?

Our team goals this season are to have a winning record and make a solid run at going to the state tournament.

What is the toughest part of being a student athlete?

The toughest part is the long days that happen occasionally. Between practice, games, and extra time in the gym, there's not always time for friends and sleep.

What makes you a good teammate?

I feel that I am a good teammate because I try to stay positive and uplifting. I'm always high-fiving my teammates and trying to show good sportsmanship.

Who is your favorite athlete?

My favorite athlete is Sophie Cunningham. She is a tough player and stands her ground and supports her teammates.

What is your favorite class?

My favorite class this year is Honors Biology. I like that class because it is hands-on and I can do labs.

What is a fad or style that your generation has that you just don't get?

I don’t get the emo style. I'm not into the goth look and spiked chokers—they just seem weird to me.
