Please post something from last season that sticks out to you. It can be from a game, practice, or something funny on the bus ride to or from the game. Any moment that sticks out to you.

One moment from last season that really sticks out to me was when our team started a Splat Ball war with the boys basketball team, and we all ended up hiding out together in the locker room after games. We literally turned our locker room into a whole camp.

What made you pick #24 for your jersey?

It’s not super exciting, but I was always #25 when I was younger. When I started playing varsity, there wasn’t a #25, so I switched to #24.

How long have you played basketball, and who, or what got you started?

I started playing when I was in 3rd grade. My mom played basketball, so she introduced me to the sport and pushed me to put the work in.

What makes you a good teammate?

My ability to lead and be vocal. I’m not afraid to tell you if you mess up, but I’m also the first person to say good job.

Which road gym is the toughest to play in? Explain

I would say McClain or Wheelersburg. They both always have loud pep sections and fans.

What were your goals for the team heading into the season?

Going into this season, my biggest goals for the team were to build our culture and identity. We need to play together and compete for the McLaughlin-Levrone team, every single possession. We wanted to improve defensively, rebound better, and communicate. Offensively, the focus was on playing with pace, taking good shots, and being unselfish.

What were your personal goals heading into the season?

Personally, my goals heading into the season were to score 1,000 career points and reach 500 career rebounds, and I was able to accomplish both. Beyond that, my focus was on being a leader, staying consistent, and doing whatever it took to help our team win.

Do you have any specific pre-game rituals or superstitions?

Not really, but I always wear my hair the same way during games. It’s not a huge superstition, but it’s become a part of my routine.

What's the most challenging part about being a student-athlete?

The most challenging part is balancing everything. Between school, practices, and games, it can feel like there’s never enough time. You still have to stay on top of your grades and take care of yourself. It definitely takes a lot of discipline, but it’s worth it because you learn how to manage your time and stay committed.

How do you handle pressure in a close game, or channel frustration when a referee's decision doesn't go your way?

I always try to shake it off and keep my composure. I tell myself there’s always the next play, so I don’t waste energy on something I can’t control. In a close game, I really focus on controlling what I can.

How do you keep your teammates motivated after a tough loss?

After a tough loss, I try to remind my teammates that one game doesn’t define us. I focus on staying positive, keeping everyone together, and pointing out what we can learn from it. We talk about moving on, getting back to work, and using it as motivation to be better.

Why should the coach call your number when the game is on the line?

Coach should call my number because I stay calm under pressure. I’m able to make the right play, whether that’s getting a bucket, getting to the free throw line, or making the pass to an open teammate. I trust my teammates completely, and at the end of the day, I’m going to do whatever it takes to help us win.

What is your go-to snack?

Trail Mix or Fruit Snacks

What scares you?

Regret scares me the most. Looking back and feeling like I didn’t give everything I had is something I never want. Also, I’m terrified of ticks.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone
