What did playing high school football do for you?

Playing high school football really helped shape who I am. It taught me discipline—showing up early, pushing through tough practices, and staying consistent even when I was tired or stressed. It also taught me accountability, because my effort didn’t just affect me; it affected the whole team. Football pushed me out of my comfort zone, helped me build confidence, and showed me how to handle pressure and setbacks. Most importantly, it taught me the value of teamwork and leadership—how to support others, communicate, and work toward a shared goal. Those lessons stuck with me far beyond the field.

What were your feelings as you walked off the field for the last time as a high school football player?

My feeling was very emotional, you know, because it's like everything is really over; there's no turning back. It was the last time I got to play with the YK Brothers, the ones I've played with since little league.

Your last game was also the last game that your high school would ever play. Did that bring any extra pressure to you and your team?

Yes, I feel like it did bring some pressure to the team and me because we know that this is the last time Chaney will ever be a team and school, so we wanted to make history.

What do you think that you are going to miss the most from playing high school football?

One thing that I’m going to miss the most from high school football is running out the tunnel with my brothers and just being out there playing with my brothers and getting wins.

What was your biggest moment on the football field?

One of my biggest moments was my first varsity game, I played as a senior.

Who was the best player that you faced in a game, along with the team he was on?

The best player I had to face—I don’t know his name, but he played for Boardman, and he had number 66.

Which win meant the most to you?

I feel like all the wins meant a lot to me because I’m a senior, but the biggest win was East High School from Youngstown, Ohio, because it was the last Chaney vs. East, and I just knew we had to go out with a bang.

Which loss stung the most?

The loss that stung me the most was Boardman because that was one of the best games I played, and we lost 34-35 in 3 overtimes.

Do you think it is tougher for city league teams to win compared to other schools? Explain

Yeah, in a lot of cases it is tougher for city league teams to win. City teams often play with more toughness, grit, and heart. When a city league team wins, it’s usually because of strong chemistry, discipline, and resilience.

How would you describe your style of play?

My style of play: I’m a very physical, disciplined player who takes pride in doing the little things right. I play fast and aggressive but controlled—I want to set the tone, not just make highlights. I focus on outworking my matchup, staying locked in mentally, and being dependable every snap. Whether it’s blocking, tackling, or running my assignment, I care about earning trust from my teammates and coaches.

Why should a college coach recruit you?

I feel like a college coach should recruit me. I feel like I can bring a lot to the team, like leadership, being a team player, not being selfish, and just being a player that just wants to play ball and somebody that makes plays and brings the tone and has energy out on the field.

Can you share how the recruiting process is going, along with some schools that you are hearing from?

Yes, so I currently have two offers right now from Thiel College and Ohio Northern University, and some schools that I’m hearing from are Westminster College, Alfred University, Allegheny, and Wilmington College.

What is your favorite class or subject?

Math

What is a skill or talent that you have that those around you might be shocked by?

Skill taken would be basketball. I’m really a hopper, and people don’t know that.
