What were your feelings walking off the field for the last time, not only as a state champion but also as a member of the Tuttle High School football team?

I was very happy to be able to help this team do what they couldn’t the year prior. Of course, it makes me happy to win, but after losing the year before, it's great to see some smiles instead.

Outside of being a state champion, what was the biggest moment in your high school career?

My junior year, I had two sacks on AJ Brand, a future Division I quarterback.

Who was the best player that you faced in a game during your high school career, along with the team he played on?

The best player I faced was AJ Brand; he was a QB for Irmo High School back in South Carolina. He’s now at Virginia Tech.

What mark do you believe your class left on the football program?

We won a lot, and we worked hard to get there. So now the next group up is going to strive to uphold the tradition that we’ve left behind.

Defensive end or linebacker—which of those positions do you feel you are best at?

I am both strong enough and fast enough to play both positions at a high level. However, I’ve spent more time with my hand in the dirt, so I’ll have to say defensive end.

How would you describe your style of play?

I mean, I don’t lose my temper. I don’t ever want to be taken out.

What made you a good teammate?

I like to keep things lighthearted and take the tension off of people's shoulders. Just smile; football's fun, man.

Why should a college coach recruit you?

I will come in and give you my best every day. I’ve also been told that I am a good locker room presence and a good teammate.

Could you share with the readers some of the colleges that are recruiting you?

Some of the colleges that are interested in me are Butler CC, Fort Hays State, and a couple of D1 walk-ons.

What do you think you will miss the most from playing high school football?

The fact that there is no pressure. From here on out, it’s a business.

What was your most embarrassing moment as a high school football player?

I ran into the punt returner one time this year while I was blocking and knocked him over. Thankfully we were already blowing them out, but I still felt stupid.

What advice would you give to a young football player?

Take working out seriously, and make sure you start putting out film as soon as you can. You don’t want to fall behind.

Who are your role models?

My father has been a big help to my football career. Always making sure I eat and lift right.

What scares you?

The fact that you can lose everything at any time. So be thankful.

What is a talent or skill that you have that might surprise those who know you?

Despite my size, I’m actually not that bad at basketball.
