Before every game last year, something funny would happen. One time, a cheesy roast battle broke out between two players. And one time before a game a player started singing All Of The Lights by Kanye but said all of my life because that’s what he thought the song said.

What is the biggest reason you play basketball?

I think the main reason is the experience of just getting to hang out with my friends and make memories.

Last season, Buckeye Trail went 16-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play. What must the team do this year to better that record and make a deep playoff run?

Definitely work on our communication and our offense.

What do you feel you need to improve on to be a more dominating player?

Being more dominant around the rim.

Which part of your game is the strongest?

Defense

How would you describe your style of play?

Fast-paced, try to score before the defense sets up.

What has been the highlight of your basketball career so far?

My first ever dunk was my sophomore year in a JV game. My coach slapped my leg and told me to pick it up, so I did just that.

What has been your most embarrassing moment on the court?

I missed a dunk in the late game, but it’s okay because we won.

Who is the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team he was on?

Alex Reese from Martins Ferry

Where should the state finals be played?

I’ve not been to a game in Dayton, but the atmosphere at OU is awesome.

Should there be a shot clock in Ohio high school basketball?

I do not think there should be a shot clock in high school basketball. Maybe later in the game, like in an overtime situation, just to get the game ending faster.

Would you share with the readers some of the colleges that are recruiting you?

I’ve gotten a lot of D3 interest so far, and I’m just trying to enjoy the recruiting process.

What is one thing you hope to do in a game but might never have the chance to?

Shoot 3s.

What is your favorite sports show or movie?

My favorite sports movie is Like Mike with Bow Wow.
