Lancaster Fisher Catholic run over the Millersport Lakers 36-12

g online rosters from Maxpreps and Hudl.

After shipping my day game in Akron, I made my way to Lancaster, Ohio, to watch Fisher Catholic host Millersport. In what might have been the quietest crowd I have seen this season, minus the two Fisher Catholic fans who yelled for holding on virtually every play.

The ground-and-pound Fisher Catholic offense flexed its muscles early and often in this one, starting with a 13-yard run from Sam Tencza. A 29-yard run followed by Leo Hampshire, then it was a 17-yard run by Jacob Walsh that took the ball down to the Lakers' 1-yard line. From there Hampshire walked in for the touchdown. The PAT from Joey Ellis was missed, keeping this a 6-0 game, with 8:45 left in the quarter.

Ellis appeared a little upset after his missed kick, and he took it out on Nicholas Yingling with a crushing blow to force a Lakers punt, with 7:27 showing on the clock.

The Lakers' defense showed some grit to end the quarter when Justin Phillips got to Hampshire for a loss of three. Millersport continued with the hard hitting when Cash Inman stopped Hampshire for no gain and forced a punt, with 11:30 left in the half.

The Irish defense continued to smother the Lakers offense, with Deaglan Neighbor forcing a punt when he stopped Jason Wells for a loss of five, with 10:43 left in the half.

The Irish offense would go on an 8-play, 63-yard drive capped off with a 2-yard run by Tencza followed by the two-point conversion run by Welch, making this a 14-0 game, with 1:40 left in the half. The drive was all running plays with short gains on most runs, eating up the clock and taking the life out of the Lakers' tiring defense.

The Lakers offense would strike with a 65-yard touchdown run by Yingling to make this a 14-6 game. Unfortunately for the Lakers, Yingling would be ejected later in the game, and the Lakers never recovered.

With thirty seconds left in the half, James Wilkinson hit Damian Neal for a gain of 11 yards, taking the ball to the Lakers' 16-yard line. Six seconds later Austin Brown took the ball to the five with his 11-yard run. The drive came to a close on a 6-yard touchdown run by Hampshire to make this a 20-6 game.

The first big play in the 2nd half came from Hampshire, who got to Yingling for a loss of two. Jason Wells would make this a 20-12 game with his 54-yard touchdown catch with 10:11 left in the third.

This became a 28-12 game when the Irish got a touchdown pass from Welsh to Blake Wohrer from 33 yards out, followed by the two-point conversion from Tencza, with 8:34 left on the clock.

A bad snap caused Javid Ellis to have his punt blocked by Caden Delabar, giving the Irish the ball on the Millersport 26-yard line, with 5:39 left in the quarter.

A 22-yard run by Neal took the ball to the Millersport 4-yard line. From there Anderson Crook took the ball 4 yards for the score. Hampshire ended the scoring with a two-point conversion run to make this a 36-12 game.

There were two plays in the fourth quarter that were noteworthy. The first came when Gabe Yang got to Welsh for a loss of four, and then Neal picked off a pass thrown by Caiden Wiseman.

An oddity and a first for me this year was the negative yard punt by Joey Ellis. This was the third time I have seen this occur in a game.
