Please post a small recap of last season with something like a big game you had, something about a certain game, something from a bus ride to or from the game, or something that sticks out from a practice.
A big game last year for me was the game against Eastern Pike; even though the score didn’t show it, I feel like I had a good game on both sides of the ball. Eastern is always a good game.
When we last spoke, you had said that 2024 would be the first year playing on the defensive line. So, how did that go?
Last year was my first year playing defensive line; it went great. I loved being the one who did the dirty work for our inside linebackers!
Last time we spoke, you said one of your goals was to become a leader. Were you able to achieve this goal?
Yes, now that I’m considered an “upperclassman,” I feel that it’s my job to lead the upcoming players and even the senior players! This year, I and a couple of the guys are starting a Bible study within our team. I feel that it will bring us closer together and give us something more to play for!
Huntington took baby steps last season, improving their win total by two games to finish 3-7 on the season. What will the 2025 squad have to do to get to the .500 mark or better this year?
The last two years for our team have been about building. Our team has been young the last couple years, and now that we all have experience under our belt, I feel that we have potential that we have never had before! If we want to get to the .500 mark, we just have to stay humble and stay disciplined all the time!
Who was the best player that you have faced in a game, along with the team they were on?
Newton Hoops from Unioto High School was one of the best I’ve played against; he was so well-rounded as a player!
Who is the toughest teammate to square up against during practice?
The 2 toughest players to square up against in practice are Jaden Moore and Jackson McNeal; they are not only very good at their positions, but they are also very strong.
What is the toughest part of the first day of practice?
Definitely just getting back in football shape; football conditioning is a whole different beast compared to other sports!
What makes you a good teammate?
I think I’m a good teammate because I always raise the intensity and mood in the room; if anyone is slacking, I always try to make them better. I also have everyone’s back on the team, and if they need anything, I’m always there!
How important is it to you that the team gets along not only on the field but off of it too?
Unity is a big word in our locker room! I feel that if we get along and go through adversity together and stay united, we will succeed, but the second we turn on each other and don’t get along, our communication, chemistry, and so many other things are damaged.
What does community buy-in mean to you?
Community buy-in to me is just having a community that can always support you during bad and good times! The TWP is the best around at supporting its community!
What are three reasons that you play football?
I play football for many reasons, but the main reasons are that football teaches you many life lessons, it gives me chances to bond with my classmates, and it gives me a way to share God's word!
Would you rather kick the season off with your rival, or end the regular season with them? Explain
I would rather end the season off with our rival just because it’s getting cooler, and the motivation of playoffs would be in all of our minds! I feel that would motivate the guys just a little more.
What was the last book you read along with the author?
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
What scares you?
Rats scare me.
What toppings go on your pizza?
Chicken Bacon Ranch
