Cincinnati Eagles 56 Noblesville Lions 6
My nightcap game took me from Stargell Stadium to Woodward High School in Cincinnati to watch the Cincinnati Eagles host the Noblesville Lions out of Indiana. This would mark my first time catching a game at Woodward. I was able to go down to the field and speak to Coach Goodpastor, and in talking to him, I was able to learn that the Eagles were beat up, missing a few players, and had another player suspended for the game.
The Eagles would convert a fourth and five when Jordan Jacobson used some nice work from his offensive line coupled with nice field vision to pick up six yards a little over a minute into the game, setting the tone early for the Eagles. Jacobson would end the drive with a six-yard touchdown run, making this a 6-0 game. Noah Rogers was true on his PAT to make this a 7-0 game, with 8:38 left in the opening quarter.
A fumble by Caden Anderson was recovered by the Eagles' Judah Liske at the 8:25 mark of the quarter. On a fine option played orchestrated by Jacoby Mooneyhan, he made the pitch at the perfect time, allowing Jacobson to race 20 yards for the score to make this a 14-0 game, with 8:07 left in the quarter.
The Eagles offense was back at work with 5:46 showing on the clock. Mooneyham would end the three-play 33-yard drive with a touchdown pass to Peyton Salyer, making this a 21-0 game.
Liske would take down Lions ball carrier Micah Barton for a loss of seven, with 5:10 left in the quarter. Once the Eagles offense was back on the field, Mooneyhan tossed a twenty-three-yard touchdown pass to Salyer to make this a 28-0 game with fifty seconds remaining in the action-packed, one-sided quarter.
The Lions tried a pitch play with Barton being thrown down for a loss of five by Carter Reardon. The drive continued into the second quarter, where Barton broke free for a 77-yard gut run to make this a 28-6 game, with 11:47 left in the half.
On the ensuing kickoff Lincoln Womack would take the ball 67 yards for another Eagles score, making this a 35-6 game with 11:36 left in the half, where the clock was already in a "running clock mode."
The Eagles defense would get a nice play from Caleb Davis, who got to the Lions ball carrier for a loss of seven, with 10:57 left in the half.
The Eagles offense was back on the field, with the result being an eleven-yard touchdown pass from Mooneyhan to Womack . The drive totaled just fifteen yards, taking two plays, making this a 42-6 game, with 8:42 left.
After Noah Rogers picked off a Lions pass, the Eagles offense made this a 49-6 game on a twenty-yard pass from Mooneyhan to Jeremiah Smithe, with 1:52 remaining in the half.
The second half went by quickly, with three plays sticking out. First, a pick six from Salyer made this a 56-6 game. Then it was a twenty-three-yarder by Barton. Lastly, it was a pick by Ethan Kyle for the Eagles.
