Thurgood Marshall 30 Cincinnati Woodward 7

My Saturday afternoon game pitted two winless teams against each other. Cincinnati Woodward (0-3), and they had been outscored 199-0. Thurgood Marshall also (0-3) had been outscored 157-15.

Thurgood Marshall would get a nice 31-yard run from Da'Mari McCutchen to set up a first and goal from the Woodward 6-yard line, with 7:29 left in the opening quarter. The 6-play, 67-yard drive ended when Rakim Turner-Jefferson sprinted in for the 6-yard score, with 6:56 showing on the clock to make this a 6-0 game. He would break two very weak arm tackles on his way to pay dirt.

Shawntae Williams muffed the ensuing kickoff, and pouncing on the ball for the Cougars was Isaiah Wilson. The 4-play, 20-yard drive ended with a 33-yard field goal by Emmanuel Shimiriyimana, making this a 9-0 game, with 4:17 left in the first quarter.

Jasiah Williams was sacked by the Cougars' Dewight Mitchell for a loss of five, with 3:40 left in the quarter. Before the quarter came to a close, McCutchen sprinted for a 30-yard gain.

Facing a third and thirteen, the Cougars got a 15-yard run from quarterback Myles Jones, with 11:45 left in the half. McCutchen would go 41 yards to make this a 15-0 game at the 11:01 mark. He bobbled the ball twice after taking the handoff and still went untouched for the score. Williams lost 5 yards when he was sacked by Torrey Perry with 10:31 left in the half. Woodward made the last big play of the half when Xavier Bell sacked Jones for a loss of five.

Just ten seconds were gone in the third quarter when we had a 17-0 game thanks to a muff on the kickoff that resulted in a safety. Turner-Jefferson was dropped for a 3-yard loss, but he got revenge later in the quarter by going 7 yards for a touchdown to make this a 24-0 game.

Jazaih Miles got to Malachi Brooks for a loss of four with 11:39 left in the game. The Bulldogs offense had no bark in it, as they could not get anything going. Turner-Jefferson put the ball on the turf, and making the recovery for the Cougars was La'Marion Furlow with 10:54 left in the game.

A fumble by Dwight Mitcheel was recovered by the Bulldogs' Jody Larking at the 3:19 mark of the quarter. Courday Allen hooked up with Courday Allen for gains of 37 and 13 yards. The 13-yard completion went for the Bulldogs' first touchdown this season. Allen hit the PAT to make this a 24-7 game, with 2:35 left.

The Cougars would score one final time when Myles Jones raced in from 45 yards out to give us the final score of 30-7.
