St. Bernard-Elmwood Place 43 Norwood 0

I will be using the rosters from the conference website.

My Saturday night game took me from Portsmouth, Ohio, to Bron Bacevich Memorial Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio, to watch the Norwood at St. Bernard-Elmwood Place game. There was a crowd of approximately 300 on hand to take the game in. I will say the cheerleading units from both teams were loud and cheered the entire game.

Things started out as poorly as they could for the Norwood offense when Brycen Willis mishandled a poor snap from center and pounced on the ball for St. Bernard-Elmwood Place, Arnold Henderson, just 11 seconds into the opening quarter.

The Titans needed 4 plays to go the 10 yards needed for the score. Scoring for the Titans was Lucas Cannady on a 2-yard run. Cannady also ran the two-point conversion try to make this an 8-0 game with 9:22 left on the clock.

The Titans offense was back to work with 4:32 left in the quarter, with Cannady hooking up with Nick Jefferies for 37 yards. Just when it looked like we were going to have another Titans score, Cameron Sheppard took the ball from Cannady; he would take it out to the 27-yard line to set up the Indians offense with 2:08 left in the quarter.

There were just thirty seconds gone from the 2nd quarter when Cannady sprinted for a gain of 17 yards as he went right through the heart of the Indians' defense. The Indians' defense forced a turnover on downs when Damien Hunter pulverized Amare Hicks at the 6:51 mark of the quarter.

The half had 3:16 left when Cannady coughed the ball up and the refs signaled Indians ball. The play occurred on the far side of the field, and I could not see who made the recovery, and I am guessing the PA guy did not either because he made no announcement.

A blocked punt put the Titans offense on the field at the Indians' 1-yard line. Cannady plowed in for the score, making this a 14-0 game, with 2:02 left in the half.

Willis, who took a pounding on offense and defense, would cough the ball up, and making the recovery for the Titans was Enrico Boyd. Cannady hit Hicks for a 36-yard gain to set up first and goal at the 1-yard line. Cannady inched in for the score, and then a Cannady-to-Keenan Derrenkamp two-point conversion pass made this a 22-0 game.

On the 2nd half kickoff, Tommy Ficklan laid the wood to Hicks. Aiden Meadors kept the momentum on the Indians' side when he recovered a fumble by DJ Steele, with 11:00 minutes showing on the clock.

Willis took a bone-crunching hit, causing him to put the ball on the turf, and Johnny On The Spot for the Titans was Troy Malone, with 10:06 showing on the clock.

The Titans needed 8 plays to go the 52 yards needed for the score. There were five runs and three passes, with the score coming on a 12-yard pass from Cannady to Deshawn Hicks from 13 yards out. After Nathan Rutemueller nailed the PAT kick, we had a 29-0 game, with 6:27 left in the quarter.

Before the quarter ended, Cannady and Hicks connected for a 17-yard gain, and then they hooked up for a 12-yard touchdown to make this a 36-0 game.

Malone would sack #13 Aiden Meadors for a loss of four just five seconds into the final frame. With 7:01 left, Zarius Westbrook picked up 22 yards, moving the ball to the Indians' 1-yard line. From there he made this a 43-0 game. The Titans defense made one final big play with 1:26 showing on the clock when Stelle picked off a pass thrown by #20, who was not on the roster.
