The series between Clear Lake and Humboldt stood at 38-37-2 in favor of Clear Lake. Game 78 was close at one point, with Humboldt holding a one-point lead. From there it was all Lions, as they would use a roaring defense to pull away for the win.

Jaxson McIntire threw a nice ball, hitting Trevor Theobald for a 26-yard gain to get the Lions offense moving. Jaxson McIntire used his legs to pick up seven, with 8:15 showing on the clock. A completion to Maddon McIntire brought 16 yards and set up a first and goal from the nine. The drive ended with a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kolby Hodnefield, giving the Lions a 6-0 lead with 5:45 left in the quarter.

Jackson Flaherty would get dropped by Aiden Miller for a short loss, and then he was thrown for a loss of four by Logan Larsen and Levi Reynolds before the quarter ended.

The Wildcats' defense got a pick when Zane McIntire made a nice play on the pass thrown by Jaxson McIntire. Miller got another sack with 9:22 showing on the clock. Flaherty shook off the sack by using his feet to run the ball down to the four. Flaherty found Chase Flaherty for the 3-yard score, followed by the PAT off of the foot of Karson Ruble, with 7:10 left to make this a 7-6 game.

Jaxson McIntire made a sweet 12-yard run by making a good read and using a nice move, but the drive ended soon after with a punt. Before the half ended, Jackson Flaherty would be sacked twice. The first one came from Max Larson, and the second one came from Madden McIntire.

Hard running Sam Dodge from Clear Lake was dropped for a 6-yard loss by Jack Guy to get the third quarter started. From there the Lions offense, facing a third and eight, got a 21-yard run from Hodnefield. Later in the quarter a 19-yard pass to Donnie Johnson. A 9-yard completion to Hodnefield helped set up a 25-yard field goal by Malaki Beyer to make this a 9-7 game with over two minutes left in the third.

Jaxon McIntire hit Carson Riser for 12 yards on third and eight to move the chains. Jaxon McIntire ran in from 2 yards out to make this a 16-7 game, with 9:41 left in the contest.

Sam Dodge and Gage Larson hit Jackson Flaherty, causing a fumble that Aiden Miller recovered to give the Lions offense a first and goal at the three, with a little over nine minutes left. Jaxon McIntire followed his line into the end zone, making this a 23-7 game.

The Lions' defense ended this one strong with Levi Reynolds and Maddon McIntire dropping Jackson Flaherty for a 6-yard loss, with 6:32 left. Gage Larson got to Flaherty for a loss of nine with 3:56 left. Then Flaherty was picked off by Jaxon McIntire.
