Post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and/or memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.
Last year was a great year all around, as we finished 9-2 and made the playoffs for the first time since 2020. We had a couple of close-game slug-fests, like when we played our rivals Northridge and Watkins, which I find to be the most enjoyable games.
What is the toughest part of the first day of practice?
Just getting up out of bed and making the choice to go is the worst part. Once you’re actually up doing things with all your friends, it’s a lot better than you make it out to be in your head.
What makes you a good teammate?
I’m not the most vocal leader, but I try to let my actions speak for themselves. I’m always pushing hard every day and getting extra work in outside of practice.
What are your personal goals for the season?
Anticipating that I’ll be more on the offensive side of the ball this year, I’m shooting for 2k rushing yards this year.
What goals are you setting for your team?
We all want to win our conference again, but we also really want to get back the 1 game we didn’t win in the regular season last year, which was against Granville.
What is the strongest part of your game?
I think my vision at running back really sets me apart. I have a good feel for where lanes will open up and do a pretty good job at making people miss.
Which part of your game do you hope to improve the most before the season kicks off?
I want to get more physical when I run the ball. I’m primarily an elusive back, but I want to be a complete back this year who can do it all.
Running back or safety: which one do you feel you are better at?
Definitely running back.
Of those two positions, which one is the hardest to prepare for?
Safety, for sure.
How much game film do you watch on your own?
During the season I watch at least a couple of hours of film every day leading up to each game. The film room is a safety's best friend, picking up on every little tendency and key that the offense will give you. It’s also good for running backs, but you have to be a film junkie to be a good safety.
How do you get over a bad game?
I’m pretty hard on myself, but at the end of the day nobody is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. You can either sit and sulk and be sad about your mistake or own up to it, learn from it, and try to get better from it.
Where should the state finals be held?
I like the Pro Football Hall of Fame Stadium, but playing in the Horseshoe for a title game would be sweet.
If you could take any game from the schedule and play it in any stadium in the nation, who are you playing and where is the game being played?
Similar to the last question, I’d love to play our rival school, Northridge, in a night game at the Shoe.
What is your go-to snack?
Rickie Krispy Treats.
Who are your role models?
I’m a huge college football fan, so guys like TreVeyon Henderson, Caleb Downs, and Ashton Jeanty are all guys who I try to learn from.
What are your favorite and least favorite types of music?
My favorite genres are rap and rock; my least favorite is probably pop. I don’t hate it; I just don’t go out of my way to listen to it.
