Awards won or earned: Scout player of the year

Post a small recap of last season with personal highlights and any other big moments you have and/or memories you have from last season, whether it be a game, the bus ride to or from the game, or any other thing that sticks out.

Last season I was primarily on the scout team; my job was to get the rest of the scout guys lined up in the right place and to be a “coach on the field.” I had a role on some special teams during the games. Some of the other scout team guys and I were selected in October to be captains for the varsity game against Cincinnati Saint X. Then in December, I got to travel with the team to Kroger Field and won the 6A Kentucky state championship with my older brother, who was a senior.

Who or what got you started playing football?

My father got me started playing football; he played linebacker at Louisville Saint X and graduated in the class of 1999.

What keeps you motivated to play the game?

My coaches motivate me to play the game, and they stop both my teammates and me from getting complacent and comfortable where we’re at. They make a constant effort to get us better every day.

What are your personal goals for the season?

My main personal goal for the season is to make an impact whenever I have the opportunity.

What makes you a good teammate?

My communication on the field and my ability to lift others up make me a good teammate.

What did you learn during last season that you can use this season to be a better player?

Last season I learned that every game, no matter the opponent, you have to bring your A game.

In any sport, at any age, what has been your biggest moment as an athlete?

My all-time biggest moment was getting a pick-six my freshman year vs. Male High School. I had a rough start to the season, and it really boosted my confidence and my ability to lead.

What is the toughest part of practice?

The toughest part of practice for me is the fundamental period. At Trinity, it is very fast-paced, and the drills alternate each day. It is a great way to get better for competition, period.

Which part of practice is your favorite?

My favorite part of practice is the competition period. We do 11v11, 7v7, and inside run. It is very competitive and physical.

What have you done during the off-season to improve your game?

I got a membership to the gym and have been lifting every day. I gained over 15 pounds over the offseason.

Which part of your game is the strongest?

My physicality is the strongest part of my game.

What is the best part of being a linebacker?

The best part of being a linebacker is being a hybrid between a defensive lineman and a defensive back. Stopping the run at the line of scrimmage or intercepting the ball and running it up the sideline is an unmatched feeling.

What is the toughest part of being a linebacker?

The toughest part of being a linebacker is dealing with the offensive line, which is typically much bigger than you.

Outside of sports, what are you doing for fun?

I and my former teammate have been writing music together and playing songs at restaurants for the past few weeks. I also enjoy spending time with family as a way to wind down.

What was the last book that you read, along with the author?

The last book I read was “The Tenth Man” by Graham Greene.

What is your favorite animal?

My favorite animal is a shark.
